I'm having a problem with the new Audiobahn speakers that I had installed the other week. They sound like they are already blown on my stock head unit. The spec say they can handle 200+ watts RMS, and my HU only puts out 20, heh. They distort at medium volume and are totally unintelligible at higher levels. My stock speakers owned these pieces of crap.
I have emailed the online store I bought them from and plan to contact Audiobahn personally to tell them of my story.
Is this brand usually this crappy as a whole?
Anyways, now for my question. Has anyone heard of the brand of speakers called "total"? The car audio shop carries this brand and I am looking for a new cheap set to hold me over until I get my money back from the Audiobahns. Also, I googled and googled and googled but cannot find Total's site, does anyone know of a place to find reviews or does anyone know their site?
total? no idea, you may want to ask the shop where they get it, or look at the packaging for a URL.
Underpowering might be the problem.. Maybe the HU just cant hack it? No idea if audiobahns suck as a whole..

What's your budget for set of speakers? Is it the front's you are looking to replace right now?
I am trying to replace the rear deck speakers, I paid a total of 90 bucks for the Audiobahns. Now, things are tight, I don't think I will go over 80 bucks for a set of 6x9's.
It can't be underpowered, they run good at low levels and plus, I have heard it when my Honda's HU tries to power it's aftermarket rear deck speakers at full volume, not the same distortion going on, so I doubt it's underpowering that's the problem.
I might just have to spring for some better speakers, since I can find no info on Total. I don't want to order new speakers either, since I want them to test fit and test the speakers before finalizing installation and returning another set of speakers will suck.
I was thinking about Pioneers, but not the REV series, I didn't know they were that affordable. Thank you for that suggestion, now I'll have to find a store that carries them around here.
Only place you will get them that cheap is online. They retail for like 199 or something. Have you already done your front speakers? You should concentrate on the front end part of the system before upgrading the rear speakers. The rear's would be the very last thing I do(if at all)

Man, shoot, I need them to do a test fit. I think one reason that the Audiobahns sound bad is because of the weird install, instead of top mount like the stock speakers, he had to install it as a bottom mount to make em fit. Picking them up at a walmart or a bestbuy would be better and easier to return. I will call and make an appointment with the car audio place later and ask them what brands they carry and what prices run.
Not to bump my own thread but here's what's happening with the speakers situation:
Vision Audio are going to give me an install discount because I was not happy with the way he installed the Audiobahns, and they suggested a set of Kenwood KFC6969IE 6x9's and they also said that they are sure that these speakers will fit properly top mount. Now, I just have to research Kenwoods. I will be paying almost 90 bucks for these speakers.
I have had bad exprience with Kenwood in the past, but I have never had thier speakers, are their speakers any good? They at least have to be better than the Audiobahns and hopefully the stockers, although the stock speakers rocked more socks than socks should rock for stocks,
Alright, I'm splurging for the set of Totals they have. I just called em (Vision) up and talked the them about a better set of speaker and come to find out, the Total brand is entry level JL audio. So, Whoot! I'll have some JLs in my ride. Now I'll just have to save up for an amp, probably a clarion or a phenoix gold.
