European Union Problem with car alarm

I've recently bought a used Toyota Paseo, and the dealer told me he couldn't get the car alarm to work, so he disconnected it... he did tell me how to reconnect it, which i did without result lol... Is it just broken or are there certain things i should look for that can cause malfunction? It's a standard toyota car alarm with a remote that also unlocks the doors (i think, i didn't see it in action yet ) i don't have the manual either so i can't look at a schematic of it. when i connect all the plugs, it's just like it's not there, nothing happens, pushed all the buttons on the remote, i can start the car, the little red light doesn't blink... all the fuses are good; i opened the alarm box and all of the 2 wires are still connected... can anyone help me out, or give a url where i can find a manual or schematics for toyota alarms? I think I made it clear by now that i'm a complete n00b at this, so any help would be appreciated
thx

Those third-tier OEM suppliers for Toyota typically don't have any information about the alarms since the car is considered old now. Try and look at any numbers or letters on the brain to find out who makes it.
