Sup Guys,
looking for some recomnedations on speakers to run in the rear. I have the bass covered with 2 10's and i have the fronts covererd with type r components(not amped yet). Im looking to upgrade the rears next. I want somethign that will not over power the rear, but yet add to the overall SPL of the system. I plan on leaving these on the stock amp. I do plan on getting mabye the alpine 2 channel for the front, but for now i would like to get all the speakers done.
Cam2x reccomened the CDT CL-5X but lately i have heard you preaching the pioneer rev series. it appears that i can get those in 6x9 which would mean i wouldnt have to make the custom brackets.
All opinions welcome
thanks

I had the rev 6x9's and I liked them alot. You might also want to think about getting a matching set of type-r's so the sound will not be so much different then your front speakers.
Or you could not go with any back speakers. It'll sound better without any rears, and higher powered fronts, plus you'll be letting more bass into the cabin by having those speakers gone.
Just my 2 cents,
but if you want surround for a video setup then go with some rear speakers. Alpine type-r's preferably since that is what you're running now.
my only concern with the revs or the alpine type r's is that they are not verry efficent. as i will not be running them off a good amp, i need something that will be decent at 22rms. not to mention i think that the type rs would drown out the fronts. Cost aside, i am trying to skimp here.

on a side note, if you do use rear speakers, I would do the pioneers over sony any day of the year...more efficent, built better. but you won't get drastic results for this mod. better to put $ into front speakers
i have a kenwood kdc 2025 already run subs off the one preout i have. i dont have to look at alpine, but ive heard that they are good. im looking for a decent 2 channel to run my type r components. the alpine components puts out 50rms which could be nice.

well i know im gonna get grilled for this next comment:
i dont feel confident enough to install the amp myself, esp b/c you have to run new lines to the speakers from the trunk. So i am looking for ops on the major brands, or something online for about 100-130. Install is 40 for a non store amp and then 40 for wiring and misc. As much as i would love to go out there and get something that looks sweet as hell, like the zen, i just couldnt install myself. as always

You've done eDead matting and the big 3 right? If you can do that, then you should be able to hook up an amp. Taking apart some of the interior panels for running wire underneath isn't that hard. Most of the interior just snaps off and on.
I'm very familiar with the gen4 camry interior, I had a 99 XLE, if you want you can PM me and I'll help walk you through it.
But if you gotta downgrade the amp for the cost of installation, then here's a few decent amps in your budget
110 shipped, probably doesn't sound as nice as the Soundstream , but they're reliable and pretty clean.
You might also want to try looking for some Phoenix Gold Tantrums or if you don't mind buying used, check out the classifieds at www.elitecaraudio.com. There's a bunch of stuff there I wouldn't mind buying myself.
Heh, if the guys at the store arent going to be either screwing the amp to something or hiding it somewhere, amp installation is simply plopping it somewhere right-side up and plugging it in. Though, yeah I guess running cables falls under that category.. Wiring, you may not even have to pull panels, I was able to run my power and RCAs through the side floor panels with my fingers, a small flathead, and a bit of patience. (gen3 cam) Granted, I did not run the power cable safely (it goes through the doorframe instead of through the engine firewall) but.. Yes, the hardest part will be getting speaker wires from the amp into the doors, keep those away from your power lead. unless you really are unsure of your abilities, try not to drop 80 bucks for installation. Wiring kits can run about $15-30 (avg) online, and they come with the fuse and such. So for the sake of what-else-50-bucks-can-buy, consider a self install.
BTW, who hooked up your sub?

ive yet to see a pionner speaker with a decent efficiency rating. most are around 89dba whereas even the crappest sony is like 91dba... 2dba = A BIG difference.
