Adding a 2nd battery.

Hello, Im rewiring my whole sound system. I plan on getting a 2nd battery for my subs. Now my question is that does the amp just run off the battery by itself? Does the main battery have to connect to the 2nd battery or something? Will this drain the 2nd battery a lot? I plan on using a yellow top.

i think your gonna have to wire the two car batteries in parallel and upgrade your alternator.

^ Use a battery isolator.

http://www.hellroaring.com/audio.htm

Scroll down to the bottom of the page. It has 3 examples of how to hook it up.

What are your intentions here, do you plan on running your system with the car off, that would be the ONLY reason to add a second battery, unless your an SPL competitor. Have you upgraded your big 3, did you upgrade your battery, how much current are you drawing. What amps are you running?

extra batteries will only put more of a drain on your alternator. Personally, I would upgrade the battery you have.go optima, and do a new alternator or an HO alternator
