sir it will depend on what kind of sound you're looking for. SQ or SPL. the first one deals mainly with the clarity of the sound, the latter is all about the intensity of the bass. just remember that a pair of smaller subs will sound better than a single large one. for example, two 10 or 12 inch subs will have better sound quality altogether than a single 15 inch sub.

it all depends on your budget and how much space you're willing to let go of from your trunk.

SPL - is how loud you can go
SQ - sound quality

a SQ set-up is usually more tedious and expensive to put together.

If you want big boomy bass (rap, techno), get a pair of 12" or 15". If you want tight clear bass (kick drum), 2 or 3 10" would do nicely.

I have 2 12" subs in my 92, and they sound good. I'm running them with a 1000w max (@ 8ohm) Kenwood amp, but running bridged at 2ohm (250w max to each speaker).

Also, be sure to get a good brand. You get what you pay for!! Pretty much any amp or speaker that boasts xxxwatts MAX, isn't that good. Look for something that talks about the RMS wattage, that's what you look for. Watts max is before the thing melts down!
