Adapter for Steering Wheel Radio Controls

Hello,

I don't know if the title makes any sense, but basically I'm looking to get an aftermarket headunit into my 5th Gen Camry. Still undecided as to which one though. One thing I've grown fond of is the radio controls on the steering wheel.

I went to Best Buy to inquire about the possibility of keeping the radio controls on an aftermarket unit and they said that it's possible with the use of some kind of adapter. Cost is about $80 dollars for a universal one plus they would have to order it and it takes a few weeks to get. Does that sound like a fair price? Is there even such an adapter?

If anyone can confirm their info it would be much appreciated. Plus if anyone knows either the model number of the adapter that I need or a place to get it it would help also. Sorry if this has been discussed before, but I couldn't find anything through the search function.

Thanks in advance.

If you're still interested in getting a DVD/Navi system, the new Eclipse decks are such an easy swap into the camry's. The steering wheel control harness plugs right into it, no mods needed.

If you decide however to go with a reg CD player, you can use the PAC SWI-X

I'm not sure if the other Eclipse Decks will directly connect to the factory steering wheel controls or not. I know the AVN unit's do though.

I can get you the AVN5435 for around 1700 plus shipping. This unit will play video for the rear while displaying the Navi/Radio up front.

Thanks for the link. Will the Premier DEH-P860MP be able to use one of those adapters? Also, the links all said coming soon. Couldn't find any prices.

That deck will work with the SWIX, pretty much any deck with a remote eye will work.

The MSRP for the AVN5435 is 1899.00
The MSRP for the AVN5495 is 2699.00

The AVN5495 has the navigation built in to the hardrive. It also comes with an extra 20GB for MP3's and WMA
