Talking Cheap liquid deadener found

If any one's interested in using liquid deadener as part of their install, I found a really good deal. Most liquid deadeners are around 250.00 USD for a 5 gallon bucket. I found where to get a 5 gallon bucket for 68.85 plus shipping.

Go to www.mcmaster.com

At the top left of the page in the Find Products tab, type in the number 3274.

This will bring you to the Sound Absorber/Barrier Combinations page. Scroll down and you'll see the 5 gallon pail for 68.95.

EDIT: Actually this might not be the best thing to use, http://forum.soundillusions.net/showthread.php?t=48059

I guess, it's too thick, and the temp, rating isn't high

yeah looks like this guy wasn't happy...

Let's see here. It isn't very liquid like. It is more like say....wet playdough...with holes in it....it's thick stuff. Liquid-like styrofoam maybe...it's a very wierd and think mixture. Took a 2x4 to mix it well...the normal paint stick broke.

We added water and it doesn't like to mix with water easily. It is like super wet playdough oafter adding water, but over time it starts to work in. There is no way, IMO, you'd just throw it in a spray gun of any sort.

So once you get it mixed to a decent spreadable substance it doesn't really like to spread. It still globs and painting the same area twice removes the first layer you painted. And forget about foam brushes they just get full of the stuff and die a painful death.

So it doesn't stick very well, it likes to slide down the side of things. It doesn't do it fast, but don't expect to just put a few layers on the walll of the car. It's not going to happen...

So if you are going to use it, be patient. Take your time and apply a layer a day and you are going to need a few layers since it dries VERY thin. In addition, if you try to put more on in the flat parts it takes a long time to dry.

Now, it doesn't smell terrible and it does lower the resonance of the panels and add mass.

However, I'm sure there are better products. The 5 gallons most dries to nothing.
