Basic sub/amp question

will one sub running at 400 RMS sound the same as two subs running 200 RMS each...or will one setup be louder than the other?Thanks.

depends on the subs, sealed or ported etc

two subs with sufficient power(assuming they arnt garbage) will play louder than one sub.

it boils down to cone space. in the case of 12's one sub only has 12 inches of cone space whereas two subs would have 24" of cone space

more cone space = more air moved = more spl

this is true unless you are talking about high excursion subs...there are some high excursion subs that will outperform two low excursion subs
but most high excursion subs take more than 400 watts to put them to their potential
