Just bought a PPI Art amp

Got it brand new for 150 shipped, not bad. These amps are supposed to be really clean amps, this is a '96 model it was originally 299.00 (before DEI bought them)

I'm going to use this to power a set of Ribbon tweeters. The amp is rated at 25 watts rms X 2 @ 4 ohms.

The tweeters are 8 ohm's so they'll see about 12 watts rms, maybe more(hopefully not too much more)

This is a ribbon tweeter.

If you want to read more about this stuff check this out.

Have you ever tried this amp? I'm still considering the Lotus Reference Mid or Excell. Maybe an IDQ8 in each door then a 4-5" midrange.

I'm just peicing everything together, then I'll install it at one time.

I'll be using a Behringer DCX2496 connected to the carputer

Oooo, I'm starting to hate you.

I heard a set of JP2's in an Accord and they were leaps better than my waveguides. When you get everything dialed in I want an audition.

Maybe some day in the future, I'll switch over to PPI art or maybe Adcom's and some ribbons.

I've heard a set of Lotus references dropped into stock locations (door/sailpanels). 250wpc and no processing. It had amazing staging and depth for where it was and the dynamics were eye opening.

Yeah you can swing by and check it out when I get it done. I'd like to hear those waveguides too.

Now I gotta figure out what pieces I need for the computer.

Which PPI amp is that?

I started out with 2 PPI amps, but now I'm using 2 Linear Power amps.

Like to get another 2502IQ or 2.2 HV. Thats if I can find one.

It's an A100.2

Here's a pdf with all the models and the retail prices.

I read the specs on them....jesus that is a small footprint for an amp....I like the ribbon tweter approach...so few people pay attention to detail. Me I have enough componenets and midbass drivers to compenstate for the sub...so it is more for my tastes for SQ rather than spl

The ribbon tweets are a very nice tweet, they play frequencies well above 20KHz , unfortunately the car audio world design only go up to about 20KHz. Good find on the PPI, I ran the older stuff and loved it, my only gripe is that back in those days, effiecency was not in their vocabulary my PC2350 sucked alot of juice. Your only running that small amp, so I think that is fine.

I think I'm going to run an A600.2 for the mids. I'd like to find a BNIB black one.

Now just gotta figure out what sub amp to buy for the 2 IDMAX12's
