2 Questions: Voltmeter Mount and Speaker Buzz

1) My components are buzzing at all times now, most audible when the volume is down to 0. tried playing with the rcas in the trunk but no avail. I think its because the rcas are ran on the same side as the power(ino ill fix it) but it didnt happen the first day or second. any ideas?

2) Want to mount my new voltmeter
I want to put it here, indicated by blue

my thought is to take some 2x4 and drill holes for the mounts on meter to go in to. Then cover the wood with black fabric and attach w/ double sided foam tape
just wondering if this makes any sense. or there are better ideas

looking for any comments
thanks

in my last truck i had buzz in my speakers when i ran RCA's down either side of the truck. I eventually had to run it down the middle and the noise went away, well except for my slight alternator whine...but thats a whole other animal...

Make sure your head unit is well grounded, and keep your amplifier ground wire as short as possible. Ground your amp to a good spot like a back seat bracket bolt, and scrape away the paint where the connection is made. Having a long ground wire can cause lots of noise, known as a "ground loop". This is caused when the amp can't get a good ground connection, so the amp will try to ground itself through the outershield of the RCA cables, and travel back to the ground of the head unit..

If this doesn't work, move your RCAs to the other side of the car, or upgrade to better quality RCA cables.

hmmm, id say my amp is pretty well grounded, bout 18" runs to the left backseat bolster bolt, scraped away the paint 4GA.
I think i should upgrade the cable at the same time as moving it to the otherside. The stuff they used looks like lamp cord crimped with rca connects
