First of all, you should double check the polarity of your subwoofers. If you have one of them wired backwards it will kill your bass. Because if you have one of them hooked up backwards it will suck air in while the other sub pushes air out, and they will cancel each other out and really kill the bass. One way to check is to disconnect the speaker wires at the amplifier, then use something like a drill battery pack and connect the wires to the terminals of the battery. It won't hurt the speakers. Connect the possitive wire to the positive terminal, and the negative wire to the negative terminal of the battery. For smaller speakers you can use a 9 volt battery. The speakers will make a popping sound and you'll be able to see them move. If you have 'em hooked up right, the speakers will move forward, away from the enclosure. If they move in opposite directions then you need to re-wire the speaker that is moving backwards.

Running a speaker with the polarity backwards will cause what is called "out of phase". You should also do this kind of check when you're wiring any kind of speakers including door speakers. Having just one speaker wired backwards can really mess with your sound.

I'm only sure about Sony and some other really cheap companies like Legacy, ebay specials, and some others. Some companies do the same thing with their decks. I had a deck that claimed to have 20watts rms. They lied.

you must run this amp in stereo based on you subs. you might have one sub reversed (out of phase) which will give you less output. If you have them hooked up correctly then I would suggest hooking up only 1 sub bridged on the amp, the sub will get 400+ watts to the one sub.

"sub reversed"
so that means one sub might not be positive to positve and negative and negative from the box to the sub?

soo i just played around with the switches at the back of the amp... like the low pass filter and started turning the knobs... then it got louder and louder... soo i guess i solved the problem.... i thought if i turned the knobs too much... it might blow the subs... so i hesitated at first... but thanks for everyones help...

from my experience.. I blew those subs with my amplifier a while back

I've then upgraded from 1 of those 12'' subs to 2 12'' (pentagonal) subs and had them for over 2 years .. I find they hit a lot harder
