Speakers blown?/?

Today i was driving up to my job, and my music wasnt loud at all, just normal, and evertying was fine, then i turn off my car but figure it was gonna rain so i turn the car back on to roll the window up and all i hear are the subs in the back, and theres this sizzling noise to my right and my component has smoke coming out of it, not the tweeter but the bass part in the right front door, i dint notice smoke coming from n e where else? but neither tweeter, or bass component or my 6 x9 work, just the subs do???? what coulda happened?

I have all infinity speakers and subs, and 2 mtx amps, all aftermarket, plus capacitor if thats relavent

Sounds like it could have been a power surge to your speaks. It can happen if you leave your deck on when you turn the car off, and then start the car up. If you can, take a look at the connection between the speaker and the wires and see if you fried that too.

Naw, sounds like a fried voice-coil to me. Door speakers are vulnerable to moisture, since water can get inside the door through the window seal. Your voice coil might have just gotten corroded, rubbed against the magnet, and shorted out. The only way to tell is to take the speaker out of the door and inspect it. Push straight down on the main cone. If it makes a rubbing or a scratching sound then your voice coil is fried. But if one or more of the tweeters is fried it's harder to tell. If the speaker smells burnt, then it's probably time to throw them away. WHen I'm mounting door speakers I always use a foam enclosure to protect them from moisture. I've seen lots of rusty speaker baskets and magnets come out of the doors of nice cars.

I'm not really a fan of the 3 and 4 way speakers. Too much stuff going on for one speaker. One tweeter for one mid range is good.
