What would happen

A co-worker has only one set of speakers in his truck. He was asking what would happen if he were to hook both the front and the back speakers wires coming out of the head unit into just the front speakers? would this not be a good thing? would it give him more power to the speakers? I believe the head unit is a 4x45 watt unit. I told him I was not sure what would happen.

he would get 90 watts to each speaker, but if there is any difference in the output between the rear speaker output and front speaker output, even the slightest difference in wire lenghts or resistance, it will sound like crap. he would be better off if having to do this to join the two wires directly out of the source unit as close as possible together, then running one single (bigger) wire to the speakers. If i am in error in saying this, please correct me, i dont want to give out false information. This just seems logical to me, if i am wrong then ignore what i say.
