stopping my trunk rattle...

Ok, so i am redoing by sub layout in the SBC... new parts are on the way...

- kicker 600.1 amp (700+ RMS birth sheet)
- kicker solobaric s10L7 D4 sub (600 RMS DVC 4ohm coils)
- all stinger wires, fusing, crimps etc.
- a plexiglass sub box to show off the nice magnet on the kicker with some blue LED's along the border for effect ( i am really excited about this box, u guys might say they suck but i really like the look and it should compliment the trunk well ) http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sPageName=WDVW

so for instal, i am going to mount the amp in the spare wheel well most likely, then mount the plexiglass box next to the optima that was already moved to the trunk...

HERE IS MY QUESTION

is it worth it just to edead the spare wheel well, deck lid, and trunk panel to stop rattle... i do not particularily have an interest in sound deading the entire car, since i am not going to go for SQ comps and i would not care that much, plus 600 watts RMS is not too crazy... i just thought when i had a similar setup in the gen4, the rattle was ghetto and would it be worth my money to pick up a 50sq. foot sheet of edead to just do that trunk area, or am i really not going to get much rattle clearing by doing that?

if you can affoard it do it. The most annoying rattle was the rear deck for me. The clips in the genn 4 hold it like shit. I would say that is a must do. And the trunk lid. Beside from that it becomes more of the want as opposed to need. Kill the rattle. Which you will def have, and then see. You can always sell the excess edead to me

btw box looks cool, mabye dont do the wiring cup thing? that could clean it up. Unless it already has that

Yeah man it's definitely worth it to install deadening. But once you do it, you'll want to do the rest of the car

I would do the whole trunk, trunklid, and especially the rear deck. Also the front doors will make the sound of the front speakers sound so much better.

Check it out, I found this pretty sweet deal on a new deadener from Second Skin Audio.
http://www.secondskinaudio.com/produ...e_products.php

It's called Hazmat,

Quote:
We took the basic design of Damplifier and Damplifier Pro and altered it some. We wanted an extremely pliable, light weight alternative to foil, so we designed a constraint layer damper with a higher-grade butyl and a mylar film. We originally designed this stuff for plastic and upholstery panels but after running some tests on metal surfaces it did incredibly well. The end result is a vibration damper called Second Skin Hazmat This product is ideal for any area of the car, plastic metal or whatever. It is 65 mils thick with a 2 mil mylar facing, and is very flexable. Second Skin Hazmat is our lightest vibration damper yet! Because it has no foil heat shield we had to change the butyl composition. (Foil reflects and absorbs heat, mylar and plastics do not) This is why we want your feedback. we need real world tests done, and we only have so many cars to do it in. This product has a 500 degree heat tolerance and needs no heat, rollers or adhesives to be properly applied. As with all second skin products it is guaranteed never to melt of fall off any part of your car. There is no such thing as user error, bad batches, or improper install when it comes to our dampers. They do not fail. in return for such an outstanding price we want you to give us feedback. If you, our customers say that it is worth, we will add it to our line up of dampers, if not, we will either improve it or kill it. Expected ship date is June 15th
Lighter than Edead v1.se and just as thick, plus it's Butyl Rubber a opposed to Asphalt. But the important part is that it cost's less.

This product just came on the market and it looks good I would use this stuff but I got a bunch of leftover edead v1.se from my friends truck.
