Yellow Top.

I don't want to burst your bubble or anything but you can get better subs for LESS money.

Also, I hear that JBL amps aren't all too reliable.

why are you putting max wattage for each listing anyways.. the 6.1's rms at 110watts? and those alpine x-type dont run at 3000 either..

He isn't asking about sub price... he just wants to know about the battery.

JBL amps, as far as I know are quite reliable. I haven't heard of one shitting the bed yet from people I know.

i had a 2 ohm stable jbl that i ran at 1 ohm for over 2 years before i sold it

so you sir dont know what you are talking about
jbl makes good amps...they just make crap speakers

and abovethelaw
dont go infinity....way too harsh and not enough midbass
get some alpines or something

as for a battery....pft....you need a bigger alternator...if you are running that kind of wattage on a stock alternator, its just gonna damage your charging system
a bigger battery will help for a short time, but when it starts to die and the alternator has to do all of the work, it will be stressed

what amps are you running?
3000 watts per sub im assuming that what their peak rating is...

btw dont pay attention to peak power ratings...they mean nothing
look for rms ratings
that supposed 3000 watt PEAK sub is really only 1000 watt RMS sub
same thing with amps...dont be fooled by a 1000 watt amp if it says 1000 watts peak
that means it probably only does 4-600 watts if that

I prefer Odyssey batteries over Optima Yellowtops. (Stinger are the same as Odyssey)

Thanks for the help all. I will get a better alternator shortly. Klaymen...your right about those infinity speakers. They dont produce enough midbass but they do get really loud though.

I said they were good, I just mentioned one guy said that he's seen quite a bit go through his shop, but then again, he's also seen quite a bit of other amps go through his shop too

Im considering buying one of these

People, just answer the questions the original poster asked, no need to go into what's better or bad about other equipment. No one wants to hear about your personal prejudice, keep it to yourself. If you "heard" about something, prove it by providing a link to back up your claim or personal experience with it.

I'd go with either the Odyssey pc1200mjt or a Stinger SP1000(pretty much the same battery)

These are cool because you wouldn't need to stretch or replace the battery cable as you would for an Optima. The post is closer to the original location.

And if you haven't done the Big 3 yet definitely do that.

http://forum.sounddomain.com/ubb/ult...c;f=5;t=007801

If you don't want to spend the 200+ on a H.O. Alternator, you can also look into getting a stock altenator from a Highlander with the V6 Tow Package option. This is a 130 amp alternator, and you might be able to pick one up pretty cheap with an exchange.

Otherwise there's a bunch of good H.O. alternators available. There is a group buy going on the Sounddomain forum for Excessive Amperage Alternators.
