Review: Profile AP1000M Monoblock Amplifier

Foreward: I recently purchased a Profile AP1000M monoblock amplifier to drive my Ascendant Audio Atlas 12" woofer. I was trying to set up this system on a really tight budget, and I heard that Profile was a nice budget amplifier.

Buying it: I purchased it off the net from millionbuy.com for $99.95, plus ~$10 for groudn shipping via FedEx. I was thoroughly impressed by the service I recieved. I received the amp 3 days after I bought it.

The setup:
  • Ascendant Audio Atlas 12" woofer in 1.7cu' sealed enclosure
  • Profile AP1000M monoblock amp(which i am reviewing)
  • Rockford Fosgate wiring(8AUG ground and b+)
  • Sony CDX-R3000

Pros:
  • 0-12dB variable bass boost
  • 0-180degree phase control
  • crisp, clean bass reproduction
  • snug connections
  • big terminals for battery, ground, and remote-lead
  • comes with a high-pass converter so you can use your stock headunit
  • comes with a remote gain knob
  • the variable controls are phillips, not flathead which is way better because i don't have tiny flathead screwdriviers
  • rock solid
  • slick looking
  • solid mounting points
  • cheap at only $100

Cons:
there are none!

Summary: This monoblock amp is an amazing budget amp! It is simply amazing for the money, and I can guarentee you will be blown away by how well it performs.

A+

edit: here are some pics of my new system

Pros:
  • 0-12dB variable bass boost
The sony only goes 0-10, i dont know many people that would bass boost that much anyway, and if you want to, which is fine, you can do it through most headunits also, so maybe a Half a CHECK
  • 0-180degree phase control
CHECK
  • crisp, clean bass reproduction
Sounds fine to me, at least on par with my previous kicker amp, if not better so CHECK
  • snug connections
CHECK
  • big terminals for battery, ground, and remote-lead
Big enough for my 4gauge power and ground
  • comes with a high-pass converter so you can use your stock headunit
CHECK
  • comes with a remote gain knob
CHECK
  • the variable controls are phillips, not flathead which is way better because i don't have tiny flathead screwdriviers
Sony's are flat, but they are on the top of the amp, and are big enough for a regular flat head driver, or you can push your finger down on it. CHECK
  • rock solid
CHECK. hadnt had one crap out on me yet
  • slick looking
CHECK, clean, silver amp
  • solid mounting points
CHECK
  • cheap at only $100
CHECK

Cons:
there are none!

Summary: This monoblock amp is an amazing budget amp! It is simply amazing for the money, and I can guarentee you will be blown away by how well it performs.

A+
Im glad you like the profile, but i dont understand while people bash one cheap brand while praising something almost identical to it.

sony has bad repuation for things failing to wrk as they should.. plus they dont comply to the standards that most other companies due, so most of the time the RMS and MAX rating of their amps and subs are way wack.. yea you got this 1000watt (PEAK) amp that they broadcast "1000 WATTS" right on the front, so people who don't know audio worth shit are like wow great.. buy it install it and realize that the RMS written in writing smaller than the normal human eye can read clearly stats like 200 watts..

not even to bust on Sony.. profile are no better.. the best way to go would be investing a little money into it..

No, my sony amp is 900watt RMS, and i believe it..it hits harder than my old kicker 600rms, which had been tested. each speaker was getting 300watt now it gets around 450.

I too run a Profile Amp the California Series and I've also owned one of their Baja series amp. I've heard people bash and rip on Profile being cheap and no good. Personally I like some of their products and they get the job done for what I want done.

tommy, you must be a moron so let me explain how you just made an ass of yourself..

the sony amp says 900 RMS right.. and the kicker said 600 RMS right.. according to anyone who knows numbers, 900 is clearly more than 600. Thus allowing for more watts to be put out.. so yea.. of course there is going to be more power (assuming sony is acctually putting out those numbers since you only stated the kicker had been tested)..

and as for you dna59.. im not even ragging on profile lol.. i dont even know what there quality and stance with people are.. and ive never seens anyone with one.. so im sry if i offended you in your position with Profile etc.

as for sony.. i've owned it and it sucks.. royally..

You were doing good...

j/k

Seriously though, installation is half the battle. Anything will sound nice if you install it properly.

Everyone has different ears and preferences, remember that.

Dude, way to be a complete asshole, LETS ALL GIVE HIM A HAND wOOhOOO!!!

i fuckin know that 6 is less than 9, and you must be a complete dumbass to think other wise, that or an asshole, im leaning towards the second one. You completly missed the point of my post.

I run 2 12" woofers, on a monoblock amp. the first one i had was 600rms, that /2 is 300watt. now i run a 900watt amp, that /2 is 450. Difference of 150watt. Most of us know that you have to double the wattage to gain 3db, well, i didnt double the wattage and i can tell a MUCH improved difference over the original setup. Its like a seat of your pants dyno, I can feel the subs hit harder, and they sound deeper and louder, although in realitly i havent gained much in db.

now until you've owned and operated and tested every component we are speaking of, shut your fuckin hole and keep your over generalized narrow minded uninformed opinions to your self.

NOW FUCK OFF!
