How do I know if radio has an AMP??

I e-bayed an oem single din am/fm/cd player to replace my am/fm/casette. but the connectors on the back do not fit my 10 pin/6 pin configuration. It has a 15 pin connection. Now I'm wondering if I need an external amp. How do I know??? I've put in two other posts, but no answers.

Go to your local audio shop and ask them for a wiring harness for your car It's an aftermarket head unit and not an OEM from another vehicle right?

He bought an OEM 3 in one CD player to replace his cassette player.

bnb1023, I'm pretty sure you bought a cd player which does not have an internal amp, to use that cd player you are going to need to purchase the factory external amp with Wiring harness.

It's a pain in the ass. You are better off buying an Entry level Pioneer or Alpine CD player.

Heh, someone needs to learn how to read. my bad.

I took it as reading oem single din as possibly being the size of the radio. I wasn't sure if he was confused with terminology of the receiver size or if he bought an OEM. But, after reading your post I don't know why I would think that...

Just to clarify bnb, you purcashed the 98 Camry OEM upgraded CD receiver?

Yes it is an oem

Yes it is an oem. I've looked everywhere so far, and only found one amp, was real expensive!!! I did not want an aftermarket, but obviously should have. Now i'm stuck, and need an amp. Anyone knw a site that sells them?

You know what I think I still have the OEM amp from my 99 XLE I had, I know I don't have the harness though. It's yours for 20 bucks shipped(If I can find it)

I'd gladly do that

CAMX2Runner - I'd gladly do that. e-mail me at barnesbn@horizonview.net if you have it. I'm sure I can get the 10/6 connection, and then find the other.
