I'm about ready to buy speakers for my Gen 5...How do I know the speakers I'm going to buy aren't gonna blow out the OEM Head Unit? I want to keep the headunit...I dunno your probably saying why you wannna keep that ugly thing...I also I have a sub that was given to me from a friends for free...I need a enclosure for it..I wanna eventually install it, but i'd probably have to buy a aftermarket Headunit...I'm looking to change all the speakers...

Speakers don't send power, they receive it. Your head unit is safe.
You can run the sub off your head unit if you want, you'll need a an extra part from your local audio shop. They can help you with a box as well.
BTW, you'll need an amp for your sub if you don't already have one.
the only way speaks could possibly hurt your headunit is if you bought some 2 ohm speaks, which i highly doubt, so you should be good, but if you want to run a sub i would highly recommend getting an aftermarket receiver with good preouts, running an amp with a converter, which is probably what ^^^^ is talking about i dont recommend because you will have to blast your gains(lack of good voltage) and it just sounds better w/ good preouts, i know from experence
You'd be surprised what kind of sound you can get using a good LOC. The Davidnavone LOC has adjustable gain controls up to 7 volts.
I installed DLS A3 and A6 amps to DLS Iridium Components and an IDmax12 in my friends truck, and it was definitely one of the best systems I've EVER heard, and that was using the stock CD player with the NE-774V LOC from www.davidnavone.com
The gains on the amp only had to be turned up about one and a half click from point 0.
I'm sure it will sound better though with more EQ flexibility from a good aftermarket deck. But I'm just blown away at the sound quality of that setup with 0 eq.

Are you looking for recomendations on speakers or are you just wanting to make sure they will work?
Your front doors use 6x9" speakers in the lower door, and IIRC you also have a seperate 2 inch tweeter.
I always rec. going with a 6.5" 2 way component system and getting an amp for them-If budget permits.

Yessir I was talking about a line converter. And generally a line converter will sound just as good as an aftermarket deck save the tuning options... you must have heard an old low voltage one. They're generally 2-4Volts now I believe... more than enough for what he'll be running (I'm assuming).
What kind of sub do you have? What's the manufacturer and model number? We'll help you find an amp and give you dimensions for a box. What's your budget for amp, wiring, install and box? Are you about to build/install yourself?
I'd like to spend no more then 200 bux if that on speakers...U rec, 6.5 2-way comps for my rear deck? My main concern is the interior first...The sub i got is Bazooka EL1204 Subwoofer RMS 200/300, Max 300/450 Liquid Cooling

The components from this new company called Exile audio are only 160 shipped.
THey look like a really good option and they're very shallow too, so mounting depth should not be a problem at all. http://www.exilecaraudio.com/exile/?section=speakers
Some Oz Audio Vectors should be under 150.
I'll see if I can think of any small 2 channel amps...

some people don't upgrade their rear speakers, some people just disconnect them entirely.
Think about when you go to the concert, where does the sound come from? Up front. The idea for music often is to create a soundstage for best sound quality. Also you won't really be hearing your rear speakers up front. Instead of spending money on rear speakers you're better off leaving them stock or none at all and amping your upgraded speakers or upgrading to an even better speaker.
This isn't for everyone though, I'd test around with the idea before you go ahead and do it.
Yea i like my rears too.. I think it depends on the person.. I like bass tho...so what does everyone think about that sub?

Depends on your preference and what kind of system you are going to be using. If you are going to be using strictly speakers driven off the headunit, then I'd recomend using rear speakers, becasue the front's aren't going to put out the output you are looking for.
If you plan on going with a semi decent component set with decent power going to them from an external amplifier, then rear speakers start to get pretty useless at this point. BUT if you are the type of person that likes rearfill then go for it.
If you are going with HIGH powered quality front components then rear speakers are (imo) absolutely redundant and could interfere with the quality of the front speakers by introducing sound that isn't as good quality of the front speakers. Not too mention ruin your imaging and staging.
Also when you run a decent sub setup, having the rear deck open is said to give you a +3 db increase. Not to mention the fact that having a high powered sub will cause the rear speakers to distort.
Rear fill has it's place too if properly setup. If you are doing a Video install and you want surround sound, then you will need rear speakers for that. Or if you have a Seqouia or Suburban or something like that, the rear speakers can be useful for the rear passengers.
For the sub I'd recomend building a 1-1.2 CB ft SEALED enclosure and using a two channel amp bridged thats rated at 200 watts rms when bridged at 4 ohms.
OR use a 4 channel amp, the front two channels for the components and the rear channels bridged for the sub.
