I couldn't find one either, that looks like it's the right one. Do you have the JBL system with the external amp(hopefully you don't)

If you do you will have to bypass the factory amp and hardwire the CD player in. Basically you'll have to make a new power wire, ACC turn on lead, new ground wire, and run new speaker wire from the headunit to the speakers.

Are you upgrading the rest of the system?

i dont think i have the JBL system. I dont have the premium 6 disc changer package, just the CD player and tape player. Damn i hope i dont have that amp cuz that seems like a pain in the ass. im not gonna upgrade the factory speakers cuz they sound pretty nice but i am gonna add an amp and sub.

how can i tell if i do have an amp for the speakers? i think i read somewhere that it was behind the glove box?

From what I hear if you have the 3 in 1 deck than you do have an external amplifier. I believe it is located behind the the glovebox.

Installing the headunit is not going to be an easy process. You will have to disconnect the speaker wire harness from the back of the factory amp and use a wiring harness to splice into those speaker wires.

The color's of the wire's are as follows

For the output speaker wires.
The front left pos. is pink
The front left neg. is purple

The front right pos. is light green
The front right neg. is light blue

The rear left pos. is black
The rear left neg. is yellow

The rear right pos. is red
The rear right neg. is white

I'm not totally positive of the color for the turn on lead/ground and 12V+

I'll see if I can find that info...

damn that sounds like a bitch, i think i may just take it to a shop and let them hook it up. Ill probably run all the wires from my amp for my sub for them.

im thinking about getting an eD nine.1 and an RE SX 12". what do u think? Im gona run the nine.1 at 1 ohm to get the 1200 watts pushing to the SX.

Yeah but the thing is, even without the JBL system, if you have the 3 in 1 deck than it will have an external amp anyways.

Just to be sure check behind the glove box, it should be easy to look, squeeze the back part of the glovebox together than pull towards you. You should see a small amplifier.

I'm pretty sure ALL Avalons that year had an external amplifier.

If you have a shop install it for you, I'm willing to bet they are not going to know better and bypass the amp, they will probably try to wire the headunit into the amp.

If you do have a shop install it for you, make sure that they do not wire it into the amp, tell them they need to bypass the amp and hardwire the cd player in. Print out this thread if you have to so they can see the speaker wire colors to match up to on the back of the amp.

It's a pain in the ass, PM pimpinavalon, he installed an alpine into his newer Avalon. He'll probably be able to help out some.

I'm not sure exactly how that harness works. If it's to wire it into the amplifier, I would say not to do that, but if that is designed to bypass the amp it should be fine.

Not sure exactly what that does. But I would rec. bypassing the amp.

its to connect the head unit to the factory amp....

by bypassing the amp, couldnt i just unplug the speaker wires from the amp and extend them to connect to the head unit and be done with it?
