Help me in speaker selection

Alright so I'm looking to upgrade the speakers in my car. I'm not a speaker guy to any degree at all. I do not know anything really about them. I just want a decent/good sounding system that won't break the bank. I'm really not looking to spend more than 500-600 bucks if possible. Don't care about name brands either. If you know cheap speakers that sound good I'll take them lol. I also don't really need subs for the rear compartments, but some low range would be nice. I dunno, help me out Any suggestions will be very appreciated.

Here's what needs to be filled:
Speakers
- Dash - None
- Doors - 5 1/4" woofers, 3/4" tweeters
- Rear Side Panels - 3 1/2"
- Rear Stowage Compartment - two 5 1/4" subs

Alternate sizes/locations
- Doors will accept most 6 1/2" speakers
- Rear Side Panels will accept up to a 4" speaker

Have you got a pic of the available space in the rear? For the subs?

Dod you have any eqipment at all yet(like headunit's/amps)

Does your 600$ budget include having to buy a headunit?

the 600 budget it only for speakers. I already have a headunit. There are aftermarket speakers in it, but they suck horribly and half of them don't work b/c the wire that to the door is halfway chopped off from getting stuck in the door. Half the time only the drivers front speaker works. I'll be able to replace that and install the speakers so the budget is simply for speakers and replacement wire

I'll work on getting pics of the storage space.

that's a pic of behind the seat. It goes downward where the stock subs are.

here's a little better picture of the area

i'm trying to find the dimensions of the actual area where the stock subs are. It's right below the subs in this pic.

Do you have an amp for the speakers? And do you want to use an amp to power them(definitely rec.)

Also do you know the max mounting depth of the door speakers?

I'd rec. not spending any money on rear speakers. Just get good 6.5" components in the front with an decent amp for them.

Are you totally against running at least one sub?

Let me know the mounting depth of the speakers in the door's and I'll post a few choices.

the stock subs aren't in anymore, the previous owner replaced them w/ reg. speakers. I have the stock subs/amps, but not sure if I'd use those, they're pretty junky. I have no amps or anything for this. I'd be fine just replacing the tweeters and door speakers as well. I just want some nice sound that is pleasing to my ears. I'm not against running 1 or 2 subs at all. I just don't want to spend my money on subs and have shitty speakers. That's what I can't stand. Hearing the bass, but not the words or any other parts of the songs cuz all the other speakers suck.

What headunit do you have? Reason why I ask is becasue if you have a 3 way crossover you can piece together seperate pieces and run them active off a 4 channel amp and get much better results than using a component set with the passive crossovers.

Sorry for all the ?'s but I like to know all the factors before I can rec. something.

***some component speakers not all speakers** but the one's that has good to great quality that i can think of right now is

dynaudio
scanspeak
mb quarts q reference
morel
rainbow
a/d/s
diamond audio
elemental designs - *as many people say their product is the one of the "best bang for the buck"*

if i was on a budget and was focusing an all around good quality item in addition to a complete setup i would go with eD's item, since i've read many great reviews about their product from consumers

if i remembered right eD's 6.5" (6500s) is made by CDT's, then I remember Ben saying he was going to update some minor parts like "tweaking" the crossovers and tweets
but their other component set the (6000s) is by eD not CDT

Either way I've read the review from a member saying that an Alpine type R stranger came to his car telling him that his type r is better than his edi6500s; however.... the stranger listened to the edi's and admit that it was A LOT better than his type r

oh yeah... i'm not trying to advertise/promoting eD in case someone was wondering

This is what i would do. But try to listen to these options at a store if possible(probably impossible though)

Front speakers- If you want to go active I'd reccomend the Seas CA18RNX and LPG 25NFA tweeters. it'll cost less than 200 bucks. www.diymobileaudio.com

If you want to use passive crossovers then I'd rec. JL XR components(about 250 shipped) Alpine Type-X components (250 shipped), Elemental Designs eDi6500s (290 shipped with this http://www.edesignaudio.com/forum_discount.php)

For a single 10 sub I like the Image Dynamics ID10V3 or ID12V3 (sounddomain)

For an amp the eD amps are a good value when using the forum discount, Diamond D3 amps are inexspensive on ebay. Memphis m Class amps are nice and they're very small so they fit is small places easily.

If you want to go with an all in one solution for an amp, using the passive crossovers the JBL PX300-4 would be a good choice.
http://store.yahoo.com/yhst-17990866...l-px300-4.html

Sounddomain will pricematch that and it'll come to aroud that price shipped with full warranty. That will give you 120+ watts rms to the front components and 300+ watts rms to the sub.
