Gen5 replacing my rears with 10's

so umm...I just got a pair of mtx 10" subs for cheap, thunder 5500 (didn't get an amp yet)...I got 2 12" mtx 7500 in my trunk so I have bass...just wondering would it be a good idea or not to put these in my rear deck? And I do kinda want put a port hole between my rear speakers...I know of the cutting and enclosing that would have to be done but...right now I'm gettin some components installed and I was thinkin to just disconnect the rear speakers...hmm, what should I do guys? I got too much stuff runnin through my head.

Mixing sub sizes is a bad idea.

When I first read the thread title I was like Then I read you want to use 10's and 12's

Rear deck sub installs using infinite baffle(free-air) type enclosures are the shit when done properly. But in this case it doesn't make sense.

What I would do is if you would like that type of install is to use the 7500's in the rear deck(if possible) and build a sealed enclosure under the rear deck. It would be a PITA though.

If you really want to go this route, I would say sell off all 4 subs and get subs that are specifically built for IB installs.

These would be very nice for said install.

arite so I'm gonna sell the 10s since thats a bad idea...I wanna keep my 12's though, I just wanna do something with my rear deck because it bothers me that it's the only thing I haven't messed with yet. Do I have any other options if I keep the 12's? I mean as far as installing subs to the rear deck should I get another set of 12s?. I've gave up on the audio places cause I soon as I ask them something they're like "yea let's do it..right now we'll pull your car in it'll sound great"...thats why I wanna know from people that won't jerk me...thanks.

Personally what I would do is just take out the rear speakers. That alone will give you a boost in SPL from not having speakers in there.

If you really want to use them in the rear deck I would have an enclosure made that will make a sealed enclosure from the bottom, and integrate with the rear deck. Alot of work though. As far as I know those subs are not ok for freeair, so you will have to build an enclosure.
