Question Amp install with stock head unit?

Hey everyone I have one question for ya's, is there anyway to hook up a amp to the stock head unit in a 01 Solara? The amp I want to use only has RCA jacks for input so I cant use plain speaker wire. So I didnt know if someone knew some way that I could do it. I do have a Jensen head unit but I really dont want to tear apart the center console and I cant find the screws to take it out anyway. Well hopefully someone out there can help me out.....Thanks in advance

I sed one of these to add a powered Bazooka tube to my g/f's 03 Civic EX. I just tapped into the rear speaker wires. Ran the RCAs from it to the Bazooka. Adjusted the levels on the PAC converter. Easy.

I got mine off eBay for cheap. I am unsure if Radio Shmuck carries them. Some car audio places should carry them. You can search online and find them for a good price.

The rear speakers in my g/f Civic are still being used. I just tapped into the rear speaker wiring.

Are you planning on running a 4 channel amp for the interior speakers, or an amp for speakers and subs? Or just a sub?

I've had really good luck with the NE-774V from http://www.davidnavone.com/adaptor_products.htm
If you are just going to be using a sub then the N-85V will work good.

It's called a low-level line converter. About $20 or so. They aren't as good as hooking it up directly to the deck, but they work. My amp has one built-in, and it works great for my sub and my stock deck.

Its a two channel amp and its gonna be pushing to 10" subs. Its just a cheesey alphosonic amp and subs that I got at Circuit City for 180 for both. I dont want a system that everyone can hear from a mile away just something with a little more bass than stock so it works great for me.....thanks for all the info everyone I will let you know what I do. How hard is it to put a aftermarket head unit in? I do have a Jensen CD head unit I could put in but I dont want to tear up the center console putting it in, I looked the other day for screws that hold the plastic in but I could not find any, how do you get out the stock head unit from a 01 Solara SE? Thanks in advance

Parts Express item 265-025 and 265-026 are low level adapters. They are $4.20 each. They are rated for 15W HU. One of them is female RCA out and the other male.

Crutchfield has them for $30 for higher power stereo, up to 30W.

Will the 15W one be ok for my stock hu? Or is the stock hu putting out more watts then that?? Maybe I should just put in my Jensen hu, I was thinking, what will I hook up the remote wire too if I do use the stock hu? I am not good with all this system stuff, I have always paid someone to put in head units for me. I dont have the patience for it. Thanks in advance everyone.
