Audiobahn Pro Compression

anyone have any input on the Audiobahn Pro Compression subwoofers? they appeal to me because of their slim mounting depth, gott love the MR2's interior space

Personally, I wouldn't touch one unless you could get it for $40 and all you want is a little thump. Check out the Resonant Engineering RE series:

www.reaudio.com

Entry-level offerings from RE will take craps on mid-level stuff from Audiobahn. Call for direct pricing.

I've used Audiobahn in the past and heard many setups with Audiobahn. In all instances, for the money it sounded fine if all you're looking for is boomy bass. I've never had a problem with Audiobahn, but I know a lot of people who have. I've always underpowered my Audiobahn equipment. If you go with Audiobahn I wouldn't send it it's rated power as I think that's what has saved the 3 Audiobahn subs I've owned.

I know two people who got a DIA Audiobahn sub from buying online. So be careful.

Personally though, I wouldn't recommend Audiobahn. I've had a lot of experience with them I guess you could say and I've never been too impressed. I haven't had any of their newer stuff, but from I've seen the quality has gone down. My buddies run a local shop and they're authorized Audiobahn dealers. They sell more Audiobahn than anything else, but it also gives them the most headache. Also that shop gets more DIA Audiobahn online buyers coming in there with problems than any other online buyer brand. Perhaps it's because they're an authorized dealer, perhaps not. I think a lot of these online places are selling B stock and not telling you which is how they get the prices so cheap. Just be careful.

Some people swear by Audiobahn and some people think it's pure crap. I'm somewhere in the middle. I'm not going to lie -- I've heard some decent Audiobahn installs (a couple Immortals and the rest their old AlumQ series). However, 99% of car audiophiles will agree that Audiobahn isn't known for their reliability amongst other things, and is known for producing glamour-first, overrated products.

Bottom line: If you like a lot of chrome and just want bass to impress your friends (not really enjoyable) and are on a low budget, then Audiobahn is probably for you. If you care about sonic enjoyment, look elsewhere.
