05 Seaker + Amp Install

Hey...I got a 2005 Tacoma DBL 4x2 and plan to install two amps, one 300/4 plus 300/2. My question is, for the amp that runs the door speakers, are most people just attaching the AMP outputs to the speaker connection behide the radio, or running new wires to the door?

I have not seen any wiring diagrams to see if there is an external amp...I don't have the JBL audio system either.

Thanks in adavance...

That amp will kill the stock speakers within hours of playing.
To hook that amp to the stock headunit you will need the Line level RCA wires that JL sells.

Your headunit uses an internal amp, no external amp hidden anywhere.

I think I forgot to mention, I'm ripping everything and anything stock out...I got an Eclispse AVN5435 HU, Focal Polyglass speakers for the front, and plan on getting a 10" Sub for behide the reseat.

Just trying to figure out the best route to run the speaker wires to the doors.

Ah I see. Nice equipment.

Yeah just run new speaker wire from the amp into the door by going through the rubber hose/grommet thing that all the other wiring is going through. I had to disconnect it from the door then use a wire hanger to help feed the wire through the door. If you are using the passive crossovers be sure not to mount them in the door. They will be prone to vibrations as well as moisture from the door which can make them short out and won't be good

Since you have the 300/4 I would say wire them active and use the amps onboard crossovers to seperate the frequencies. I believe the AVN5435 doesn't have crossovers so you'll have to use the amps. Which is ok because that amp has a very flexible onboard crossover. Then use the AVN5435's 9 band eq to fine tune the system.

Here's a tutorial on taking apart the interior if you need it.

Awesome write up! I'm in the process now of making the amp mounting board. I was going to bridge the 300/2 for the 10" JL W2. Do you think I'll have any problems with that? Then use the 300/4 for the front stage, using the onboard cross overs as you suggested. Then i'll have two open channels on the 300/4 incase i decide to go with speakers in the rear.

Thanks for the suggestions! Can't wait to see it all finished....just the darn dash kit is holding everything up!!

I meant to use all the channels of the 300/4 on the front components. One channel to each tweeter and one channel to each mid. Ditch the supplied passive crossover in the component set.

This is called wiring active. You can adjust the crossover frequencies to your liking on each channel from the amp, and set the eq from the headunit. This will also let you use the Eclipses time alignment feature to compensate for the pathlength differences between the tweeters and the mids.

Kinda complicated doing it this way but the end result is much better.

For sound proofing foam, you can get ensolite foam from Rick @ www.raamaudio.com or search ebay for different deals on closed cell foam. Ensolites probably the best way to go though unless you can find a good deal on a slightly thicker closed cell foam. Maybe a neoprene foam like this

If you want to use rear speakers, power them of the headunit's rear channels.
