well.. at cardomain.com i have an order out for 2 10" Infinity Perfects, only problem is.. that these subs have been on back order for along time, and they have told me that they are not sure when another shipment will be avalible.. they also told me to try and look for some alternative subs or just wait till these come in... i would like something from cardomain.. and around the same specs as the infinity perfects.. any help or opinions would be helpful..
yea.. and it needs to have a CF space of about .66 sealed.. already got the box... for 2 10".. the amp i bought is the Thunder 942 MTX amp.. looks like a great amp to me.. tell me what you think
Either way, a pair of 10" IDQs will sound amazing. Right now, they can be had on Sounddomain for somewhere in the ballpark of about $300 and they sound great in small sealed enclosures.
With your amp, prolly wire up a dual 2 ohm sub in series to make 4 ohm ohm load for each channel. Each sub will take 250W which is what each channel on your amp puts out at 4 ohms.

IDQ's will have slightly better sound quality than the ID's
The ID's will get louder than the IDQ's but still have amazing sound quality.
.66 cb ft is perfect for the ID's. I would run them at 470 watts and set the gains carefully. Use the Dual 4 ohm subs and bridge the amp.
Here's a cheaper setup to look at as well. The older Soundstream Exact 10" subs. These were/are some of the best SQ subs too. http://www.millionbuy.com/souexw10.html
I'll go ahead and throw the Elemental Designs 11Ov.2 out there as well. They're $175 each with free shipping, but I do believe there are coupon codes available that may bring the price down. IDQs sound great, but honestly, the Ov.2's are simply better sounding -- but also take more power to really get moving (ideally, 400w RMS per) whereas you can feed the IDQs somewhere in the ballpark of about 200~250 and get good results.
well i acctually did look at the IDQ's but i was turned away by the fact that my amp might be too strong, but in the same sense.. i have no idea how to wire that with my amp and the box i have... i had it built with two terminals, one for each side. But besides that.. im not at all sure how the Dual 2ohms, and Dual 4ohms work, or what ohm they will run at?. I also was lookfing at those elemental designs subs and they look really nice.. that was what i was think ing of doing.. but then it can back to the dual 2ohm dual 4ohm thing.
At the same time.. i have to let cardomain know that i would like to cancel my order for the Infinities.. if i decide to go a different route. After seeing that excursion videos of that elemental design sub (11Ov.2) I was impressed!.. i love the Infinites but if i can get these elemental design ones for nearly the same price.. then hell why not.. my friend has infinities.. so i thought id get some too, but why copy and get the same results if i can up him.. easily..
oo btw.. would my MTX amp be able to push the 11Ov.2 subs.. or is it out of its league in power.. lol just let me know what you guys think. Im not exactly sure when the Infinites will ship out so i have to hurry if i want to change
What's the lowest impendance at which your amp is stable? 1, 2, or 4 ohm?? Tell us this and the wattage ratings at each impedance level. This will help you decide on what voice coil configuration to go with and how to wire it all up.
