withb the alpine HU...its more tahn adequate to power the RF speakers. the speakers are only 4 or 4.5 inch speakers so they will make no bass. so i am wondering what size i can make fit the factory area. the area where the factory speakers mount is an a plastic enclosere. if i remove that i should be able to fab up a mount for a bigger speaker but i need to know what size i could use...or if i "port" that plastic enclosure i maybe able to use a bigger speaker in there

did you change you high and low pass filters.. you could always bring down the highs.. less treble more bass.. basically you just gotta mess around with the HU for different sound.. im not sure at all what speakers you can fit in that car either.. but thats probably not a bad way to go..
SUPER KAIOKEN, you are missing the point that such a small speaker will not produce bass...just distortion. it just cannot accurately reproduce low frequency notes. that is why i want a bigger speaker with more surface area that can accurately produce the bass...

why don't you get a rear sub deck from an avalon with premuim sound. You can use the sub enclosure and add an 8" sub in it. Looks is factory and you get sub. Thats what I did when I first wanted sub. I got the sub cover off ebay and there is an OEM sub for $9 right now. The speakers in the avalon (95-97?) is only 4" all around. I tried to 'port' and make the speakers from a 00 fit in the front. They were 5.25 I think. I manage to get 1 screw on and force the door panel on. It fited fine and was definitly louder and better than the 4". I'm currently running 4" components all around with 2 8" for subs and its fine for my liking.
I still have the 2000 speakers. 2-front (5.25"?), 2-rear (3"?) and the 8" rear deck sub if you want it, I'll sell it to you. Its just accumulating dust at the moment....well at least the box.
also you can buy abs speaker rings that made for our cars that can accomdate a smaller speaker....maybe they have one for a larger size?
this seller on ebay: mjmautoinnovations is whom I got the adapter from when I used teh 3" speakers for the rear.
