Question Looking 4 imput

I am looking at buying MB quarts automotive speakers for my car. In the front I considering there component reference series and in the back just there basic 2 way speak. I have only heard from 2 people that these are good speakers does anyone else have input on the brand MB Quarts.

thanks

Some of the better speakers out there, however I must warn you, the highs on their tweeters are very harsh.

What kind of headunit are you using? What kind of amp are you using? See if you can demo a pair somewhere. By mounting them in the A Pillars slightly towards the windshield, it can take care of some of the harshness.

The price is good on ebay for them. If you like very detailed and somewhat sharp highs they'll be nice.

If you like smoother, less penetrating highs I would look into something with a silk tweeter.

I had my Infinity Reference tweeters mounted in the a-pillarsin my Paseo, and they never sounded right being that far away from the mid/woofer.

Hear is what i m dropping in my car in the next few weeks after i build the boxs for the 10's

head unit: Sony MP3 52w x4

Front speakers MB Quarts Reference series

Rear Speakers MB Quarts Discus series

Subs 3 10" JBLs

Amp 1 Rockford mono amp 1800w

Amp 2 Rockford 4chl amp 400w

the Hook up i am looking at is the Mono amp will power 2 out of the 3 10's the 4 chl amp will power the other single 10 plus the front speakers the deck then will power the rear speakers

Were they wired using the passive crossovers? That's probably the problem. If you have time alignment, and crossovers and a 4 channel amp to wire them active you'd get better results.

If they are going to be powered off 2 channels using the passive crossovers, you want to keep the mid and tweeter as close to each other as possible.

Did you like the sound better when you moved the tweeters?

I would use the 4 channel amp either active to the front components if you have the processing, or bridged to the front components to give them more power. Run all the subs off the mono amp.

If you have the right ohm configuration. What are the subs you have? (model and ohm)

What do you own, and/or what do you plan on getting?
