Is that a Gen4 interior? I mean, I have the little pocket thingy stock but do you think the dimension of the CD player will be a snug fit or will have some issue? Do I need to order a smaller pocket?
If you're talking about the AVIC N1, then by all means, get your hands on one. It is an absolute beauty.
As for the AVIC N2, I'd avoid it simply because it's VERY difficult, if not impossible, to work around some of the newer security precautions implemented by Pioneer. In other words, don't expect to be able to watch a DVD while you're driving and expect to pull over everytime you need to enter directions for a new address...
One of my frat bros has an AVIC N1 and he loves it.
Yeah, I here that the N2 has alot of features that are blocked unless you put up your E-brake.. Hey, during mid-drift, I'll be able to find out the nearest Starbucks Plus, the N2 is supposed to retail for over 2 grand and RealNav is interesting but.. ehhh.. I'm not dyin' for it. I've lived this far without I feel in love with the specs of the N1. It's such a bad-ass and well.. I figured that I would a cheap CD player and then move up to the AVIC-N1 but ONLY when I have both tints and an alarm system because that N1 is just that beautiful
I wouldn't ge the Avic-N1 because I feel the Eclipse is better for the money. Mostly because I like the double din applic. better than the flip out. Defintiely don't get the Avic-N2.
Yeah the trim ring that comes with the CD player is what i was talking about. It'll look good without it though.
Now that's what I like to hear Did I pay too much though. I'm a electrical noob but should install be simple?
P.S. I see what you mean about the double din design. It makes it look as if the car came stock with the screen. It's a nice look but for my Gen 3, I don't think that damn auto stick would make it fun to work with, let alone look at. So, I guess I'm stuck with the pop-up screen option.

on the Eclipse. I'm a big fan of the "stock look" navigation. There's something about flip-outs that screams "STEAL ME!" not to mention, I think I would be paranoid about the motor breaking out on me. If you can get the Eclipse at a reasonable price, it's something to seriously consider as well...
Cam2XRunner, I just thought I'd share my final pic with ya. The JVC unit is nice.. More bass than the stocker would put out. It was a bit of a hassle but buying those snap-on harnesses saves you a LOAD of trouble. Thanks for everything and you were right about the trim.. Although, like you also said, it looks better without it. The ONLY problem with the unit is that it's not flush with the rest of the console. Because of the faceplate, it's out by about 1/4 inch.. to a shade under 1/2 an inch. It does end up flush with everything when you take of the faceplate though
Hmmm.. so, am I supposed to drill a hole where it will allow the HU to be attached to it but also to be flush with the rest of the console? I didn't get the "grind the notches" part... Maybe you can elaborate a bit Sorry!!
The brackets that attach to the headunit should have little pegs that stick out. File/grind those down so it will sit flat when you bing the bracket forward some.
You'll want to drill new holes in the brackets approxiamately 3 cm forward of the old holes. Then screw it back into it. This will bring the headunit back a little bit. See how far back you want the headunit to sit , then decide where to drill the new holes in the bracket.
