I was wondering how do I hook up a 4 channel amp on a H/U that only has 1 pr. of RCA outputs. I don't have experience with 4 channel amps only 2 and monos. Do I use the 2 set of inputs on the amp or only one? And if I use the two do I need the plugs that split on RCA plug into 2?

you could use a line inverter that takes the input from your speaker wires and converts it into a useable rca input voltage. if you dont want this approach and are only using the amp for subs (2 of them) then do this:

by the rca splitters and use all 4 channels... then... bridge the amp for full power. so 1 sub will use the power from 2 channels. make sure your amp is safe to be bridged and determine in which order you could do it. usually right+ left-

Depends on the amp. Some amps can accept one set and be switched to 2 ch. mode. Some will need a Y splitter like Johnny mentioned.

I wouldn't use an LOC if you already have one line out rca.


Most amps have a line output too, incase you are hooking up two amps, you can run the one rca from your headunit into the first amp that powers the front interior speakers, then run a line out to the subwoofer amp.

My amp is an Ample Audio 4 channel A series amp. How can I know if it needs the splitter or can only take 2?

Are you trying to still be able to fade from front to rear? If so you can use the amps speaker level inputs. If you are using the 4 channel amp bridged or active to the front channels Y Adapters will do the job.

Well I'm just using the amp bridged to power my two subs. I guess I'll just try using the Y adapters.

Yeah for subs, y splitters are probably the best way to go. (2) 2 male to 1 female adapters, are what you will need.
