Unhappy NEED HELP! Stereo hookup in 87 Cressida

Ok, so I got this Kenwood stereo for free from a friend, and was up with my boyfriend until 4am on Wednesday night/Thursday morning trying to hook the blasted thing up. Finally we got everything figured out, my poor Cressida does everything backwards, but it works. Speakers, cd, illumination- everything.... except the radio.

We cannot figure out how to get the automatic antenna to hook up with the new stereo. We touched some wires together, a black one to be specific, which seems to control the antenna. And it would go up, but it had nothing to do with whether the radio was on or not. We figured maybe we could just touch the wires together so the antenna would go up, and then just disconnect the antenna wire from the stereo and leave it so the antenna is permanently up... but that didn't work either.

As soon as I turned my car on the next morning the antenna went down. Which means even though the black antenna wire for the stereo is not connected... something is still getting in the way?

We are so lost, and I wish my radio would work. If anyone has figured this out on their own, could you please help?

i would think you just wire up the remote wire from the HU to the power ant then just plug in the ant into the HU and it would work as b4
