Disconnect the battery and you should not have a problem with damaging the ECU or airbag system. The power wire for the stereo is already in the car, unless you plan to run an amp. You can use the same power wires for the stock stereo for the aftermarket stereo.

All 1987 and newer Toyota have the same wiring for the stereo.

it is easiest to run power down the driver side and infact ISCAA (sound competitions) rules require it to be run down that side of the car regardless of where the batter is placed. You can either drill a whole in the firewall, or look for a preexisting one as there should be several.

If you are not installing an external amplifier, a power wire is not neccessary.

I am not familiar with the Echo, but you can run the wire down either side. You just need to make sure that the power wire is on the opposite side of the RCA wires. There should be a large bundle of wires passing through the firewall on the driver side. (On my Camry at least.) You can see this bundle in the foot well with a light and pulling back the carpet. You'll need to take off the plastic liner in the wheel well to see it. Like I said, I'm not familiar with the Echo, so I may not be right.

I'm not completely familiar with the echo doors, but if they are like every other Toyota, there will be screws in the armreast, the door handle trim, along the bottom edge of the door panel. And there might be plastic anchors in the edges.

Once you have all the screws out roll the window down. Start at the bottom of the door and seperate the panel from the door. It might help to use a V ended screwdriver to pry it apart at the clips. I usually just pull on the panel itself.

When you have the panel unhooked from the door, pull up on the entire panel assembly and it will come off the door.

Unhook the power window switches, if you have not done so yet.

Cool guys, thanks for the help, got the CD player installed last night. I'm gonna wait a weeke before putting in the speakers and my wife is still debating on whether she wants subs in the back or not.
