Can someone explain how: 150Wx2 @ 4Ohm = 600W x 1 Bridged @ 4 Ohms

I see this all the time,

RMS Output Power

• 150W x 2 @ 4 Ohm Stereo

• 300W x 2 @ 2 Ohm Stereo

• 600W x 1 Bridged @ 4 Ohms

I though it would be 600w @ 2 ohm not 4 ohm.

Eh, someone explain?

When you bridge an amp you will double the rated rms power @ 4 ohms. Most amps are only stable to 4 ohms when bridged.

This will explain it indepth if you'd like to read up on it.

That's the best average-Joe explanation I could think of. I don't think you'd understand the physics aspect of it (hell, I go to Berkeley majoring in electrical engineering and I vaguely have a grasp of the concepts).

Those specs match at least 20 different amps. 600 watt bridged amps are popular.

I'm very well aware of this. But I think it was Red Phoenix who expressed extreme interest in Diamond-brand amps a few threads ago... Just a guess.
