ive thought that for as long as ive been messing with audio, and computer cables and stuff like that, copper is copper. The only advantages ive ever seen is in strand count, but i dont need Monster Cables to get good strand count. Best Buy sells 50ft spools of home audio speaker wire, various gauges, for less than half of what you pay if you walk over to the car audio department. i got 50ft of 16g for my car for like $15, easy to work with, good strand count, good insulators, with polarity indicators.

just read this - ok it basically says that the need for larger speaker wire is determined by the length or the run. ok, pretty simple, but it doesn't discuss any differences in wire used in a car vs a home, like exposure to high and low temps. what's the concensus of the gurus here on speaker wire used in a car, does it make a difference? do some use different coatings?

Lots of people get the "oxygen free" stuff (I'm not even aware of any other kind), twiseted pair oxy-free is what I get from Knu, and is supposedly helpful with weeding out unwanted signals. Other than that, color would be about the only real preference, aside from brand recongition or ease of use or something.
