3-way front stage

All these new audio threads just keep reminding me about how much i havent done anything to my stereo in a long time, well, now that im a little bit older and a little bit wiser, its time to consider upgrading.
This is the space i have to work with, i want to do a 3-way setup

Given those speaker sizes, recommend away
also throw in an amp or 2 while your there.

Im looking for best bang for the buck, you guys are good at that stuff so im not worried.

I dont know how bad of a sound-stage that is, but it cant be great, but not a lot i can do about it. not enough foot space for kick pods, but i think it will be ok. just gonna get lots of deadening.

I think JL Audio makes some 3-way seperate components.

Hi, am a new entrant and am happy to be part of you guyz. I drive a Toyota Camry 1993 that was perfoming very well until in december 2004 when it started getting problem with starting the Engine after it has been driven for some distance and when you stop it would start properly but would stall and go off if you released the acceleration. This was rectified with the machanic but this month the trend has changed and it does the above if I have part it for a long time and I try to start it. It will start fine but requires to have the acceleration maintained until it has heated up. What can I do? Do I need to change any part that has gone bad?

Welcome to TN. Post this question as a new topic in the Camry Forum using the New Thread button.

Also give reference as to what engine you have(4 cyl or V6)

That can be tough to work with because of the angle of the dash speakers.

What's the mounting depth you have available in the door pods and the stock dash location?

there's a lot of room in both locations, im gonna make some fiberglass mounts for the dash, as the factory ones are only 3.5" round, but there is plenty of room both side to side and front to back, and the door panels i made have at least 3" inches of mounting depth, and i can probably fit an 8" speaker there if i widen the hole a little.

Honestly I'd go with a 2 way setup. 3 way requires so much more work, amplification, time alignment, more crossovers, etc. it can be a pain in the ass.

Also what kind of processing are you going to be using? It might be best to go with a component set using passive crossovers if you don't have a good crossover to use.

You're running the front speakers off the headunit right? If so the first thing I would do is buy a 4 channel amp. Something around 75 watts rms x 4. Hook up the speakers you have now to the amp and see if that is sufficient enough.

If not, you still have the amp, and you can upgrade from there.

Well depends on what you want to do. If you want to keep it simple I'd just get a 6.5" Component set and bridge the amp and run 150 watts rms to each side(or bi-wire the passive crossovers if they allow it)

. Or if you don't mind getting a good electronic crossover, or a headunit with a 3 way crossover you can look into an active setup and use individual drivers. Alot more work to setup properly though.

Which would you prefer?

well right now ive got a 6.75" component set, with crossover, on a 4ch amp with 75watt to each, but it doesnt sound as good as i would like.

basically i just want something that sounds really good, lol, as vague as that is. Right now it sounds good, but its missing the midbass, and its very noticable to me. Whether i do this with active or passive i dont care, complexity doesnt bother me.

If you want to go active I'd look into the Dayton Reference 7"
http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshow...=295-364&DID=7
30 bucks each

Or the Seas G18RNX or CA18RNX 65.00/55.00
http://www.solen.ca/sea.htm

For the tweeters I'd try out the LPG's or if you want to spend more than 35 bucks each there's other stuff to look at.

On the cheap $ you can try out those 5.00 Dayton Neo tweeters, I'd get the 8 ohm versions.

If you want to just set it up using a passive crossover setup, try to shop around and listen to different options at some shops. There's alot of component set's out there. Figure out a budget then search for stuff in your price range and then research that product on different audio forums.

And if you're going active you'll need a headunit with a 3 way crossover, or you can use an electronic crossover.
