will this pound hard?

i have found a JL10W6 for sale in a box for $150 and am wondering if this will be able to pound pretty hard in my 90 celica? im gonna go hear it tommorow but just wondering if you guys think this is good deal or not? i like it since i will still have plenty of trunk space with only one 10'' sub.... i would be in need of an amp and this sub is 300w rms so any reccomendations would be apreciated thx

I'm not quite sure how to answer your question. The phrase "pound hard" is very subjective so I can't really help ya there. The old-school W6's were (and still are) great subs. Make sure you check the condition of the sub itself...it might've taken a beating over all these years..

How much money do you have for an amp?

Yeah, They haven't made the original W6s for a few years and they first came out about 8 years ago, so that sub could be between 2 and 8 years old. Most of the time you can tell a lot about the condition of a sub by looking at the "surround". The foam part that connects the perimeter of the cone to the frame. If the foam looks dry, cracked, or porous I'd pass.

Also, press straight down on the area where the cone meets the dust cap. If it makes a scratching sound when the cone moves in and out the speaker might have a damaged or blown voice-coil.

alright thx but the sub/box sounds like an alright deal? lol im sorry if its obvious but im a noob to car audio and i couldnt find anywhere selling them when i searched google i could only find the v2 of them
i also found a Coustic Carbon Fiber 10" 400w rms sub in a sealed box for 90 but iv never heard of that so i dono how the quality would be but im just lookin for some good sound not for comp or anything but both these options leave me without an amp so im not sure what size to go with? i know somone selling a rockford fosgate 800wrms for $300 but again i dono how good that is... anyways im open to any suggestions

http://www.tcsounds.com/TC2plus.htm 12" about 159 15" about 199 if i recall correctly

and Diamond D5600.2 (about 200-210 shipped)

Marv built sealed enclosure built to specs.
http://community-2.webtv.net/MarvsPlace/MarvsPlace/

This is most likely what I would do if I was going with a dedicated sub amp.

Cam, thats the second time youve recommended those subwoofers, they look decent, but my normal person brain cant wrap itself around that spec sheet.

Im just gonna ask the easy dumb person question...whats the power handling on those things like? 12"

I can't find the reccomended specs either, but from what I recall if going in a sealed enclosure, about 500-600 watts rms is nice.

well if you dont want to order it online, you are going to sevearlly limit your options, and you will pay twice as much for probably half the quality. And if Cam2Xrunner took the time to find it, id bet its good stuff.

After doing some research on them, they seem to be a very good sub and a very good price. TC Sounds makes subs for Krell and SVS.

This page has more info.

Do a little bit of your own research before you buy anything of course. Search the keywords TCsounds, TC Sounds, TC2+, TC9 on a few car/home audio forums and see what kind of reviews other people have done.

You'll also find through your research that the Soundsplinter subs are basically TCSounds subs as well.
