im in high school and i have nothing to do this summer. so i found an underbody neon light kit for $60 and want to buy it. mainly because im bored off my ass. can anyone tell me what the basic procedure to install this would be before i buy it? is it a one day procedure or would it take several days? and what equipment might i need to install your typical underbody neon light kit?
it is really easy. one day tops. in high school some of my friends and i pimped my calc teachers 80 something camry. we put red neon under the car and wired it to a simple on/off toggle switch that we put in the dash so he could turn it on or off when ever he wanted. that way you could turn it on if you were at a show or meet, but turn it off when you were driving. no tickets .

If he want's to dress up his car, let him Not my taste either, but, everyone has their own tastes.
Only advice I can give, since I've never done this, nor plan on doing it, is disconnect the battery of course. Make sure there is a relay in the power wire near the battery. Mount the lights where they won't be prone to being broke when the car is put on a lift for service. And don't drive around with them on

personally go with LED's, brighter and no issues with "cracking".....I did em, leaving them on all the time is ricey....it makes for a nice night pic though
y do u people like to hate so much??? hey projectcorolla of nobody helps u out by the time i get home ill help u out. i got no time to explain right now....
haha yes i realize neons are very rice-like lol. but thanx for the support from those who do understand. i dont even plan on keeping this car much longer, its just til i graduate. anyway, i went ahead and bought the kit, it was actually $40 cause my friend got it from his uncle who knows some people. hey man $150 cheaper than what they originally cost so what the hell? anyway, lucanhookup, it would be much appreciated for some tips on how to install my kit. thanx ahead of time.
oh yeah, and when i do get a new car my pop plans on selling the corolla, so would it be difficult to uninstall? either way imma do it lol but i was just wondering
hey man $150 cheaper than what they originally cost so what the hell?
You should just resell 'em. And then spend that money on something really cool. I'm sure somebody is willing to buy 'em...
Not really my style either (and no lucan, I'm not "hating"), but if you must, there are plenty of write-ups available for this on the Internet. Just Google for it..
if they are easy to install, they must be easy to take off.
when we mounted them on my teachers car (we made it as pimp as an 83(?) camry can get) we did it just up under the edge of the body in a itle lip that was there. crawl up under your car an take a little while to plan out how you are going to do it. it will make it go quicker. good luck and have fun with it.

i started it tonight. like 80toy said there was a lip and i am mounting it behind it to some what protect but mainly hide it from anyones sight. actually we havent done too much..just drilled the holes for the two sides so far. today we mainly planned out what we were gonna do and the drilling took a while. mainly b/c i was drilling in reverse i still dont know where and or how i am going to mount the front and rear tubes...
i figured a body kit would be a waste of money. im graduating in a year and my grandparents are buying the car of my choice withint a $40 thousand price limit. so why waste money? as for the neons, they were cheap so yeah i guess you could consider that a waste of money as well but whats $60?
