A Few Questions

1. I was planning on getting 2 Diamond D5300.4 amps to power Exile Tweeters and Mids, and 2 Elemental Designs 4 Ohm VC subs. Would it be easier to just get a diamond D5300.2 amp for the subs so I wouldn't have to bridge it? Would the 4 ohm vc work with that amp?

2. Do I need a distribution block for just 2 amps?

3. Should I wire active since I have enough room on the amps? It seems easier to wire active since I don't have to bother with crossovers...seems like an extra step to me.

If you are using the Dual 4 ohm VC subs, and the d5300.2, you will need to bridge the amp and wire the subs like this

As for the components, I would just bridge the 4 channel and wire it passive. It'll be a bitch to get it to sound right if you don't have an adequate processor.(3 way crossover, preferebly a headunit with a 3 way crossover)

Alright I'll just go with th 2-channel, cause they're cheaper. Also do I need a distribution block? I was reading the owner's manual for my amp and it was saying something about getting a distribution block for the ground if using multiple amps.

And where do you get all these diagrams? Those are helpful.

You will need a distribution block. Use 4 gauge wiring from the battery all they way back to the fused distribution block. But don't forget the inline fuse.

http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=263-691
or this one
http://www.darvex.com/miva/merchant....roduct_Count=1

use a 100amp ANL fuse like this one
http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=071-950

You can use a simple AGU fused distribution block like this one
http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=263-688
or
http://www.darvex.com/miva/merchant....roduct_Count=1

Or you can use one that accepts MIDI fuses like this one
http://www.darvex.com/miva/merchant....roduct_Count=1

With whatever you pick out make sure they match the Fuse rating on the amp. I think they use either 50 or 60 amp fuse, check into that before you get the fuses.

From the fused distribution block, 8 gauge power wire will be good enough. For power wire compare prices on Darvex, Parts Express, Ebay, Knukonceptz on ebay(their site is down, how lame)

For the ground wire use 8 gauge from the amp to each amps on grounding spot, scrape away the paint to get a good ground.

I find those diagrams here http://www.jlaudio.com/tutorials/wiring/index.html and on sounddomain, when you pick ANY sub, click on the subwoofer wiring options link.

Read as much as you can from that link, and definitely read this thread.

Ok, I understand all the links, except for the top two. What are those for? And how do I figure out what fuse to get? I did that little equation thing, but I don't know if that's what I do to figure out what I need for fuses. I came up with 130, but I don't know if I did the equation right.

I understand the ground distribution block thing and how the fuses go in there and that goes to the amps and one wire back to the battery. But what are those ANL fuse holders? The inline fuse? Is that what goes 10" (or however far away it is) from the battery?

Yes the inline fuse holder is what goes less than 18" inline from the battery.
The distribution block is not for the ground it is a fused distribution block to seperate the power wire to each amp.

ok, now I'm understanding this stuff...somewhat. The owner's manual said something about a ground distribution block. Is that necessary?
