3rd Generation In Dash/dvd Combo Set-up.thinking Of Something Diffrent.advice Needed

HI boys and girls,i have a question, and i think you guys can help me out.ive been thinking

about an in dash dvd player for my 92 camry.but instead if buying the in dash dvd player

thats the all in one the monitor,dvd,cd,mp3 player.like the pioneer ones that cost at least

$1,000 .i was thinking to add an in-dash monitor (solo) in the top slot of our camrys.then

below in the bottom slot install a dvd,cd,mp3 player.its much cheaper that way.priced it on ebay

a motorized in dash monitor runs about $150=$200.and a dvd,cd,mp3 player costs around

$90-$150.so i figure around 300 bucks for everything .and ill have a 7 in in dash monitor and a

dvd/cd player.our camrys have the double din slots so its possible and it saves me like $700-

$800.rather than save and buy the all-in-one.has anyone tried this and would this be a good

cheaper way to add a tv to my camr y?

Got any links to the one's you were considering? Most of the times the cheap one's on ebay are just that. Cheap.

Have you considered used?

Yes, I've thought about it...but being the SQ-oriented guy that I am, I would still require another head unit to play my CDs... have a separate DVD player and a separate LCD...

Robert (Cam) is right. The crap you find on ebay is simply...crap. For all intents and purposes, I would much rather buy an Alpine in-dash + the brain and NEVER have to upgrade or worry about anything crappin' out on me...

This one might be worth it if it's in your price range at the end of auction

I'll be blunt. Those are junk. You'll regret buying them when they fail, and they will. The Pioneer I listed is about as cheap as you're going to get on a brand new qualty unit, unless you have a hookup.

If you don't mind buying used I'd look for an Alpine IVAD900 or an Eclipse unit.

Also check this out
http://cgi.ebay.com/Brand-new-Eclips...QQcmdZViewItem

The brain he is referring to is the processor. Some unit's require external processors, some have them built in, such as the Pioneer i listed.

Everything about 'em!

1) picture quality
2) lower-grade parts
3) SHITTY engineering
4) if you ever get one, open it up and see for yourself -- terrible internals (hot glue everywhere...there was a post about this on a forum...i'd have to dig it out)

Shall I continue? If you're skeptical about what we're saying, you're welcome to get one and try for yourself....

i absolutely believe what you saying boys,im not being skeptical,i just needed some COLD,

HARD facts, now i now exactly what is made cheaply, thats why i posted i figured someone had

dealt with them.so the screen is a definite no.ive seen some good brand name ones that are

just the pull out monitor.for cheaper too heres the link:

PANASONIC one : http://cgi.ebay.com/PANASONIC-MOTORI...QQcmdZViewItem
$300-$350 for the monitor and i could buy a good dvd/cdplayer for around $100-$200.

a CLARION one: http://cgi.ebay.com/Clarion-VRX630-C...QQcmdZViewItem

a PYLE ONE, http://electronics.search-desc.ebay....2QQsacatZ67767

PYLE is sold in JC whitney magazines, are they really bad???

ive never seen anyone a dvd/cd with the in dash screen ,all in one for under 600,which was a jensen and i heard Jensen is a horror show.what about PYLE?or .im still curious boys, your expertise helps me immensely

thanxxxxx boysss,keep it coming

Only one out of those three worth looking at is the Clarion, and even that one isn't that good.

Pyle is just that A PILE

The flip down ones are a little better quality compared to most of the other cheap manufacturers indash units, but kind of weird for incar use up front. Audiovox makes decently inexspensive fold down monitors. I'd try to win that Pioneer that I linked on ebay. Probably won't go above 500 bucks, and it will do everything.

HI again i found a few all in one dvd players for under 500 for auction-wise,as far as buying one

outright.i found a jensen witha 7 inch screen for 445 plus 35 shipping, what can you tell me bout

these,i know jensen is a cheaper model, but it is all in one and could possibly do the job,if i can

find a pioneer or a clarion, which have gone for auctions at around $400-$600,i will jump and

buy it,but i have a feeling im gonna have to get lucky.so gimme your feedback on the jensen

heres the link : http://cgi.ebay.com/Jensen-VM9410-7-...QQcmdZViewItem

thanx again boys especially cam2X and takeaboo, really appreciate it fellas,
