Question cd player compatibility

I have a 1996 Camry that I use as my winter car, since my other car is not designed for winter or snow. I don't have a cd player and want to get one for this year.

My question is this...will other camry cd players fit, if they are from different years? I currently only have the standard radio and tape deck, with teh little compartment below. Will a 99 or 2000 camry player work? I am not an elecronic junkie (I love the engine), so basically I am looking to unplug my radio and swap one out, or find a cd player that will plug into the factory unit.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!!

i'm not familar with the gen 4 camries...they have the din/ double din just like the gen 3's? if so, it should just be a matter of plugging them in as you had hopped....err with the whole process of removal and all that

no, you're not cutting any wires....it should be just simply plugging inthe respectful plugs in the back. What i mean interms of the work is the part where you have to take out the appropriate dash pieces and screws....

hopefully others chime in and confirm or say it won't work.

The stereo on most Toyotas will be plug and play as far as wiring goes. See this thread. Although the person originally had a different problem, it touched on the same issue as you are asking about.
