A budget system to me is 1500 dollars. A budget to another person can be 150 dollars.
Mike, how much money do you want to spend? Also do you plan on installing this yourself? Do you have access to a Scrollsaw or a JigSaw, or would you prefer to buy precut MDF baffles for your front speakers?
This is what you're working with.

As you can see you will need to use a speaker adapter to fit any kind of speaker. I recomend 6.5" to 7" Mids. 6x9's are no good.
You'll need to make an adapter like this one.
If you don't want to make one you have two choices. Marv will sell you adapters identical to those one(he made them) or you can get plastic ones on ebay, but you are stuck with what size speaker opening they made.
I recomend going through Marv if you want to have some made. He can make the Adapter to fit the diameter needed for whatever mid you chose.

I'd say the best upgrade you can do for the money is a decent set of component speakers and an amp for them. You don't have to change your headunit to have a great sounding system. The install I did in the truck pictured above is one of the best I've heard and it uses the factory headunit via the NE-774V from

I would suggest an amp that will do at least 75 watts rms x 4. This way you can either bridge the amp to the front components, or run them off the front channels, then bridge the rear channels to power a single sub.
But we do need to know what you consider a budget before we can make recomendations.
