cig lighter wire color

i've searched every possibility i could think of but couldn't come up with the wire color of the cigarette lighter on my '04 rav4. i want to hook up the remote wire from a bass tube to the cig. lighter wire, but i don't have a test light. which wire should i be tapping into? thanks for the help.

Have you tried the thin grey wire on the back of the cd player? That's the acc turn on lead.

i just happened to take the bottom portion of the dash facing that holds the cig. lighter first and i have easy access to those wires. i wasn't really wanting to dismantle any further if i didn't have to....i just don't know which color i should tap into in the back of the cig. lighter. thanks though.

What color wires go into the cig lighter itself, not including the one for the illumination around it.?

red and white are the two colors going into the back of the cig. lighter itself.

Is there any black on the white wire? A lot of times, Toyota uses white wire with black for ground.

it's white with gray specks and red with gray specks.

I suspect that the white with gray wire is the ground wire. If you have a multimeter, you can test it.

Otherwise: Open you hood and look for some ground wires. There should be some in there that have a screw that connects one or more of them to the chasis. Try looking at the wires that go to the head lights for example. If these wires are the same colors as the white with gray wire on the cig lighter, it is a ground wire.

Upon inspection of my Camry, I found the following:

All the wires in my engine bay are covered with what looks like hatshrnk, so the wires are not visible...That probably will not work.

Pulling the trim off, I found that the ground wire for my cig lighter is white with a black stripe. The power wire is pink with a blue stripe.

I don't know if this helps you or not, but I'm posting it for what it's worth.
