Camry Box Mounting in trunk? Where NOT to drill?

Basically, where should I not drill in the trunk, afraid of hitting something vital, ya know? Im doing L brackets.

Good question. I would just try to get under there and look for brake lines and fuel lines.

any where to the left and right of your spare cut out and neer the back of the seats from the top outside of the spare tire space you can go about 5 inches on either side, id still go down below to make sure that you are not hitting any thing tho, this was my personal experience

or you can just put velcro under the box if you are uncomforable with drilling. it really keeps it down and from moving, sticks to the factory carpet already in the trunk, and very easy to do.

Yor local hardware store should have it. Ace, True Value, Do it best, Barr Lumbar, etc

They sell by the box, but some stores sell it from that box by the foot. It usually has adhesive backing on it.

It's great for sticking computer gear down too, especially when the cables on the back make the front lift up. I also used it to stick a PS2 to the top of my TV.

a huge NO on the velcro. It'll hold your box in place (or anything), but won't stop anybody from stealing it. TRUST ME ON THIS ONE. I know from personal experience.

There should be a wood baffle between the thin carpet and the spare tire compartment...you can drill into that...

^hehe, I don't think that's gonna stop a thief either. Best way is to go into Metal.

http://www.bcae1.com/amplfier.htm

That's got some really good info on mounting amplifiers. Same ideas apply to a Sub enclosure when drilling into the metal.

Look underneath first for the gas tank, etc.,then use some L-brackets & 1/2" metal screws.Unless the thief got a cordless drill they aint gettin the box(and/or subs).Check out how I did it, ucan see(at the bottom of the enclosure) the brackets screwed on to the box then screwed in the sheet metal of the trunk....Pic>>>>>http://photobucket.com/albums/v476/l...t=IMG_0124.jpg

face it, nothing can stop a thief. if they are gonna take your shit, they ARE going to TAKE your shit, even if it means ripping your car to pieces. if they do find they cant do it, theyll just starting beating things up out of frustration. so might as well let them take it easily than deal with damage to your car. the best defense is probably a good alarm system.

thats the risk we all have to take by modding our cars. sad? yes.

You're right. Prevention is the key thing here. Countermeasures that'll slow down a thief and/or discourage him combined with a great alarm is the perfect combination. You can't argue against that.

In my case, it would give me just enough time to go downstairs with a Louisville Slugger and beat the fucker within an inch of his life. I'll take the probation. The satisfaction will be priceless. But hey, everybody's different.

Let's try to refrain from making the A/V Section a political debate forum and keep it strictly to Car Audio?

Cool? Thanks

well, the front of the trunk on a gen3 is basically sheet metal with next to nothing below it, good fr drilling all around, now if you were to drill into he seat (the botom half of the rear seat), that is where the tank is....UBER nono. I have punched many holes in my Gen3 trunk and have not hit aanything. Personally, I would use 2" screws INSIDE the chambers and into the car), making it secure and theft deterrent as well....try and steal a box that is afixed to the car......they can't. My 2 cents
