Need help with electrical problem...

Alright, my setup is a JVC KD-G510 HU with a Soundstream Rubicon404 amp. I used to have it installed fine in my Camry, but when I moved the stuff over to my Tercel, something happened. Whenever the amplifier turn-on lead is connected to the amp, the power going to the amp gets cut in half. If I test the power while the lead is not there, it's at ~14v, and when I test it with the lead connected, it's at about 7v, so obviously the amp does not turn on.

Anyone have any suggestions on this? Everything worked fine before I took it out of the Camry, so I would assume it's simply the wiring...any help would be great, thanks!

Man...talk about missing the obvious

It turns out when I was testing the voltages, the ground wire was always connected to the amp, and the amp was acting as its' own ground, not one from the car battery....so the ground that I had made was completely ineffective and I didn't even know it. But I got it fixed today, and it works great. Thanks!
