hooking up neons

I purchased 2 6" neon lights that pulsate to the music and i was wondering what the easiest way to hook them up was. I want to put one in the trunk next to my subs and one in front around the center counsel area. Could i hook the light in the trunk up to my amp and have my + go to my battery cable and the - to my ground? If that doesnt work can i use the oem trunk light wires? One last Q, i have my power lead from my amp running into my cig lighter so can i just hook up 2 wires to the one + cig lighter( one coming from the neon and one from the power lead)??
Thanks for any feedback!!
Marc

how much powe do your neons work off of? the lights in the trunk and your cigg are 12 volts. I wouldn't tie into your amp.

Here is a link to how i and others did our trunks using cathodes which run off 12 volts power.

If you hook it up like said, the light will be on all the time unless you wire a switch inline.

Yes, but the light will only be on whenever the trunk is open.

The power lead (+12V constant) from the amp is suppose to go straight to the battery. And you want it fused no further then 18" away from the battery.

Yes the lights need 12v. In my last Q i didnt mean the power lead because i know that isnt supposed to go straight to the battery. It must be the turn on lead. Im goin to hook up the trunk light to the oem wires and in the front im goin to hook it up to the cig lighter where the turn on lead to the amp is if thats ok?

no no...., personally, if you have the amp already setup....leve the turnon lead ALONE. Hook the lights up to the red and black wires running to the trunk light itself, that way it will work in place of the trunk light....after ll, no one will see the trunk unless you have it open
