TN, what do you recommend a great but not too expensive alarm system? i'm currently looking for an alarm system.. any help will be appreciated.. thanks..
You can also do a search the "Search \/" button next to the "Forum Home" button at the top of the page. Search alarm systems and see what people have said/recommended/prices/etc.
Couldn't you get a cheaper system for a car with manual doors? or what about one for manual doors, but with that little thing that lets you know your alarm is going off? What would that run me?
even if you get if for cheap wont install cost an arm and a leg. Im getting an alarm for my bday and i think that im going to have to get the both from a local store.

Figure about $90 - $100 for basic install. Shop labor is roughly $45 - $50 an hour.
Viper 791XV 180 shipped online. Then have someone that knows what they're doing install it(Authorized Viper dealer)
I agree with the recommendation, BUT Viper dealers won't install products they did not sell, ie other viper alams gotn off Ebay, DEI finds out about it and BLAM...their contract just turned to shit. Beside, DEI requires them to install it, rather than just sell the box to ensure the warranty of the unit
Just for a price reference for ya, i install alarms for 169 + tax canadian (includes alarm).
Does all the basic things needed, protects your doors, hood, trunk and has a shock sensor. (no pager or starter).
I have installed alot of alarms, and for a basic alarm anything cheap is fine. i see no reason to pay 100 more for a name brand, unless its a car starter combo. the best combo imo is a compustar or autostart. again imo i would never buy a dei product... eg. viper
