Im looking for a set of components, trying to keep the install as simple as possible. Wanting to spend no more than $175ish and a few speakers from MB Quart fit in this price range.
MB Quart DISCUS DSE 216
and
MB Quart RSE 216
Ive read a little bit about them, but not many user reviews. No good car audio shops around here, so i can go see them for myself.
Any other suggestions in that price range would be appreciated.

Have you considered wiring your speakers active? If so, this opens up A LOT of options.
A little out of your budget, but a good component set indeed.
For 175 -200 dollars I would look into the Alpine Type-X components and the JL XR components.
And if you've got a good 3 way crossover in your headunit, and 4 channels of amplification, wiring active is an option as well, but harder to set up, and is not for everyone.
Yea, wiring active sounds a lot more attractive as far as selecting speakers, but i know NOTHING about setting up active or whats required. i dont understand setting up crossovers and equalizers and all that fun stuff.
and yea, $250 is a bit out of my price range, cause i dont want to use my current 4ch amp, its got decent power and i like it with my Kicker components, but .....it is a sony.

I have owned MB Quart's before. I forget exactly which model they were, but they were the 5.25" components, about $500 for the set of them retail, and came with the referenz crossovers.
They were absolutely awesome sounding. My only complaint was the metal domed tweeters were a little bright, but they did provide taps at -3 and -6 dB on the crossovers for them. I used the -6 dB. They are extremely accurate, maybe bordering on harsh, especially if you aren't used to metal domes.
They played LOUD, I was running 320 watts per channel to them, through the included crossovers. They never showed any signs of distress in the 5 years I had that set. Played them at full crank for hours and hours without a single hiccup from them.
I just wish I took them out of my car before I sold it a few years ago.
I'm running the Reference series (5.25 f & 6.5 r) in my 02 Tacoma and I love them...I have the seperates up front and coax in the rear in the stock location so they look stock. I'm running them with my JL Audio 300/4...some people might argue that they are to crisp (titanium tweeters). I ran MB Quarts in my 94 Accord and now my 02 Tacoma. Trust me they are worth it but you can get other brand similar and cheaper if you don't have the budget...I have the older model (02) but now recently I heard Rockford Fosgate own them now so I'm not sure if they are the same quality or not but I really don't have anything to back this fact up.
so what if it's a sony? does the system get loud enough for you to comfortably listen to it? if you do not replace the amp what will your budget be? how much power is the sony rated for? if the amp gets the system loud enough and you do not hear hiss when the system is turned all the way down (assuming it annoys you) then why replace it? does it overheat? if your going off the hype that sony amps are trash then close your ears. if what you have works then use it and get the best speakers you can afford. you will save money now just to be upset about your purchase in a month if you compromise on speaker quality.
