Electrical System

I have a 2003 toyota camry with a pretty hefty sound system in it. I have had many system in my car in the year ive had it and some without capacitors. I have 4 subs and 2 Amps. All Class D. I have a 1 Farad Capacitor as well.

- My problem is that latley it seem i have to turn the volume up higher than i did the day before to get the same sound level. and im not going deaf Even my freinds notice it. My headlights never use to dim at all now they dim slightly with the bass.

--Ive noticed that if i turn off my radio for awhile my alternator gets a chance to recharge my battery. Then when i turn the radio back on its much much louder.

Now im assuming that i need a new battery, but before i replace that, id like to get a 2nd (AUX.) Battery, that will be dedicated to my sound system.

Do i need to get a Aux Battery Charging Kit? Or can i just connect the 2nd battery strait in line with the power wires going to my amps? (Parralell Circuit). I know that a Battery Battery Isolater keeps the main battery always charged and equally charges both batteries, But wont the alternator charge both anyway? Or is it too much for it to handle?

You opinions/comments will be helpfull

Ditch the Cap, do the big 3, get a stronger battery, then save up for a high output alternator. Or do the H.O. Alternator first. with the Big 3, then get a better battery. They all help.

thanks guys for the info it helps. I talked to some people and they say that they dont make high output alternators for my car (eg. 160A) and i cant seem to find them for imports. can you make any suggestions or give me some links on where to find them?

And when i upgrade the BIG 3 what size wire should i use? Im thinking 1/0 guage.

Im currently running 4 12" 5500 Series MTX Subwoofers in Sealed Enclosures. And a MTX MXA6001 711w RMS @2ohm Mono Amp. A Alpine 4 channel amplifier and a rockford cap. I have 16w fog lights and street glow neons that i dont use much. I have a aftermarket panasonic head unit and a power inverter for my laptop.

just add to the existing wiring. More flow the better.
THere is a debate about the power wire, some say do it with a fuse others say dont. Im not smart enough to have strong opinion. I go with a fuse just in case

I'd also say use a fuse.

And hit up www.excessiveamperage.com and www.mralternator.com and www.ohiogen.com

Ohio is the best out of the three, and definitely the most exspensive. Excessive is what i'd probably go with if possible.

Is your car I4 or V6? If V6, you can put the alternator from a Sienna or Highlander in there, 130 or 135 A

^Yup that's also a good cheap upgrade. Or you can always have yours rebuilt for higher amperage.

Ooh, than I think excessive doesn't offer it for the 2AZ, check out Mr.Alternator, Ohio Gen, and/or have a local Alternator place beef up yours.

ok kool. I will look into that some more.

how many wires come off of the battery's positive termanal. Becuase i just wanted to use aftermarket terminals and replace all the factory wiring. Can i make 1 wire go from the battery to the fusebox? Or is there other wires that go places other than the fuse box?

And im getting a MiniVan tommorow, and i want to build a wall of subwoofers into it. in that situation should i have more than 1 battery?
