So the ultimate question is, to carpet, not to carpet, or do something else. Seriously, suggestions are more than welcome.
But much thanks goes out to Mr.Marv for hookin me up with this bad boy. And it only took the better part of three months! No biggie though. Also, thanks for the guys @ ECA for helping me with dimensions and tuning and the like.
I'm thinking about painting the inside white and doing a mural inside since there is going to be two plexi windows in the back (hence the rectangles). I might just get it all hooked up for now though and worry about it later.

Educate my ass pls. What makes one box better than the next? Mr Marv seems to pay attention to detail and not cut corners. Otherwise a box, is a box is a box provided it's sized properly and sealed tightly no?
I'm not questioning Mr M's craftmanship but what's the diff if I made a box with the exact same dimensions and used the same grade material and tons of screws?
Well, I'm no box expert myself, but the man (Marv) has 25+ years experience in cabinetry, so he knows what he's doing, and has been doing car audio for quite some time as well. Put those two things together and you get a man who knows his shit and likes what he does. That alone makes this (and any of his boxes) a step above the rest.
Put this box against a pre-fab one, and this one will win. This thing is a monster. Instead of 1/2" MDF, its 3/4". Rounded corners and edges, nice, small ports. He even used the proper kind of MDF so I could paint it with ease. he even counter sank all the holes for my plexi and tossed in some cup terminals. Overall just a pleasant experience and a fun guy to shoot the shit with. I'd talk to him on the phone for like and hour or two a night, once a week or so. Just overall greatness. That and when I'm done with this box, it'll be some pimp ass shit!

Marv will take the time to help you find out the exact dimensions needed, and the exact cutout diameter for the sub. He uses the best materials including Baltic Birch if you'd like. The cut's of the wood are so straight and true that you could seriously not use wood glue and it will still be sealed, although he does use wood glue. Like Delay_FTB said, all corners are rounded, the sscrewholes are counter sunk, the proper amount of screws are used, etc. Marv is all about attention to detail, and it definitely shows.
But like Delay said, he is also a really cool guy to talk to and you will learn alot from this guy. But beware that he will talk your head off if you let him
not too shabby i myself like a sealed box a bit better, but it all depends on the sound you are looking for. I too have built many boxes but since my recent computer crash have lost all the pictures.. ill try and post pics of the 2 boxes im working on now.
10" sealed for a MMats sub and a 12" sealed for a low-q set small sealed box for my infinity perfect 12d vq hehehehe
Not quite feelin' your choice of sub, but hey -- different strokes for different folks. Whatever works for ya man.
I got a decent deal on them when I bought my other speakers. I paid less that $100 for the pair, so we'll see how it works out. If it isn't up to par, anyone know any good 12"s that would sound good @ 31hz w/ 1.7 cuft?
