Question Powerfull Amp, Weak Subs...Solution?

I bought two Kicker Comp C12's at circuit city ( Buy one for $90 get other free ) and i want to use them. I already have 2 MTX 12" 5500 Subs with a MTX MXA 6001 Amp. For the kickers i got a Infinity 1210a amplifier.

I want to use the Infinity for the Kickers but the Kickers can only handle 150watts RMS but the amp puts out 845w RMS @ 2 ohms....

I was thinking about wiring them in sereies to make the 2 subs 8 ohms. that way the RMS rating on the amp goes down. But i dont think it will work out... My only concern is i dont want to blow the subs out with too much power.

Anyone got any wiring ideas with the equipment i have?

or my experience would be do wire in series and raise the cut off frequency and use it more for mids than lows....a bit safer without comprimising the sub totally

Wait are we talking about these 4 subs in the same vehicle or are we talking about seperate installs?

What ohm configuration are the Kickers and what ohm configuration are the MTX subs? You might benefit by having the MTX amp on the Kicker subs and the Infinity amp on the MTX's which can handle the extra power of the Infinity amp.

The MTX's are 4 ohms wired in parallel to make 2 ohms. The same with the kickers.

MTX = 400w RMS per sub, 700w Max per sub

Kicker = 150w RMS Per Sub, 300w Max per sub.

MTX MXA 6001 = 711w RMS @ 2ohms (monoblock stable)

Infinity 1210a = 1,400w RMS @ 2ohms (Bridgeable 2-channel)

i was thinking of running all 4 subs off the infinity amp, but im not sure it can handle 1 ohm, and i havent read anywhere that i can. and if i did the subs series parralell to get 4 ohm load, the output would be 845wRMS, which is weak when powering 4 subs.

Mixing subs weather it be size or manufacturer is not going to work.(well it will technically work, but it's gonna sound like ass) So if you're planning on using all 4 of these subs in the same car, let me save you some time and effort(and embarrassment) now

as mentioned before... mixing subs isnt a good idea and for 1 good reason. They are built differrently and are made to produce different sounds, frequency's, etc etc

Also your mixing subs of varying power isnt a good idea cause you will damage them... overpowering and underpowering is ok, but only to a certain point.. eventually you will blow your subs or short out your amp.

and the infinity amp will definitely not run stable at 1ohm... very few amps will... plus your subs are gonna fry real fast if you try and run them at 1ohm

Why don't you try out the two MTX's you have with the Infinity amp?

im gonna try that but when i get at least 2 more subs, cause the amp i got running the 2 i have now, matches them perfect just about

711wRMS amp - 2 Subs = 800wRMS its a pretty good sub/amp match

The infinity amp is just a beast, im definatley keeping it, i read on infinitys site a few weeks ago that it can do 1500w RMS @2ohms, other sources say otherwise tho....and speaking of infinity's site, What happend to it i cant find it even on google
