"memory" problem - hu and clock keep resetting!

It all happened when I put my Headunit back in the slot, the hu shut off. I took it out, I saw no signs of any pinched, cut, ripped wires etc. I took a wire, put it on the ACC (red) and put it on the 12v (battery / yellow) wire and the headunit turned on. It does not stay on when the car is off thouhg ( I thought it would though?) Now the only problem is that my settings get reset soon as the car shuts off.

Any suggestions, easy work around etc?

well if it happend when you put it in the dash you may have shorted something, such as the 12v+ wire. Are u sure that all your wires are neat and no frayed strans are poking out? If so, check the Fuse on the back of the HU it might be blow. Hope this helps

for future reference, when either your constant 12V or your 12V accy wire does not get power, check all your fuses first, thats usually the best place to start if you somehow clipped a wire slightly and cant visibly see it, you can easily find the blown fuse. other then that, yes some cars have the constant of the radio also as the constant for the dome light, so thats the next best thing to check hope that helps next time
